Re: zoloft
I took zoloft several years ago but did not think it worked well for me. I switched to Paxil and have been taking it on and off for years. Each drug is different for everyone. Try it for a few weeks and if you do not like it or do not feel it is working, speak to your dr. and they will be able to recommend another medication.

Re: zoloft
Absolutley give it a month or two. Somtimes it takes 2 weeks for the medicie to build up and work. I had a very close friend of mine use it for two years. She was very happy on it. She finally got to the point where she didn't need to take it anymore. Her only side affect was less worry! It was like having an old friend back! Good Luck with it!

Re: zoloft
They are just talking about it on the news.
They found a higher instance of heart attacks with people who took it. FDA is now looking at it.

Re: zoloft
I am a social worker and lots of the kids (ages 14-18) I work wiht take Zoloft. It can take up to 4 weeks to get regulated in your body, so make sure you take your dosages as recommended by your doctor. Usually, I see side effects such as drousiness, nausea, and sometimes dry mouth. Ask your doctor about the typical side effects and make sure you tell your doctor about the side effects you are experiencing. Try to keep in tune with yourself and be aware of how you are feeling. Good luck!!!!

Re: zoloft
I took zoloft for a number of years and it worked wonders for me. I took it for anxiety/depression. Good luck in your decision!

Re: zoloft
I know many people on Zoloft. Every individual is different. I have seen positive results w/ them all.
People tend to stop taking it when they feel better - they think they do not need it anymore. But what they do not realize is that it is the medicine making them feel better. So after they have stopped taking it - they had to start again. One side effect a couple people said they had was sweating when they slept. Just metioning it b/c 3 people have said the same thing.
Good luck and I know you will feel better

Re: zoloft
As a psych nurse I have seen zoloft really work for several of my patients. Of course every medication has side effects, but I personally have not seen to many at all with zoloft, the main side effects are dry mouth, insomnia, sexual side effects, naseau and sleepiness but that can all go away during the time you are taking it.
good luck with your decision.

Re: zoloft
Hi..I am currently on Zoloft and have been for about 8 months. I started out with the lowest dose which did help but I was still getting anxious and feeling down...so I gradually increased it (my DR increased it) and it has helped me A LOT. The only side effect i notice is that I get very drowsy so I take it before I go to bed. Glad you are feeling better Therapy def. helps too!

Re: zoloft
this med can do wonders for the right person. just make sure to never stop it cold turkey if you decide to discontinue it, its best to be tapered.
