Zoysia grass - please let me know your experience
we have an "ok" lawn in the front - i wouldn't mind putting in some plugs in the front to thicken it up
In the back is my problem - 3 dogs and construction - so part of the yard is just compounded dirt. we have partitioned part of the yard off for the dogs, but I would like to plant some kind of grass n the other part. Right now there is no 'grass' to plug the zoysia into - it's only the dirt. Do i have to have some kind of grass.
If you have dogs - active dogs - what grass do you have in your backyard that is tough for them?
Thanks in advance.

We had a bare spot after putting in a patio a couple years back and we chose a mix of Scott's sun/shade and shade. It's under a tree and next to a fence. It was supposed to withstand traffic but it's in an area that the dogs use as a running track. I just live with it.
How much sun do you have in the area you want to seed? I have zoysia in the front which gets full sun and no traffic and it thrives. But I've read that it's not good for areas of play or part/full shade.

Now that I took the tree down, it's full sun, all afternoon, west side of the house in the backyard, Dog traffic though. I've read mixed reviews on other websites, some say it stands up to dogs and others say not.
