Selling a car

I need to sell a car for a family member and have no idea how to do this. Besides FB marketplace, where else can I post? I’m not comfortable with Craigslist.

If you don't want to deal with the public and people coming to see the car etc, there are places that buy cars for cash. You probably won't get as much since they are reselling it, but sometimes it's worth not having to deal with people, strangers coming to your home etc
I don't know of a specific place, but you can Google it.

Kicking myself for agreeing to do this. I hate selling stuff!

You can definitely use the letgo app. I find that much easier to deal with than craigslist. You can also basically sell to a dealership but you won't get as much as selling privately

I sold my mom's car after she passed away. It was a pain in the ass and in the end I got a little less than I had hoped. Here is what I did:

1) Used Kelly Blue Book to research how much the car would go for private sale vs trade in
2) I got it detailed and checked out by my mechanic.
3) Made sure I had service records. My mom kept pretty good records.
4) Checked the CarFax report. This wound up being key. I was getting low offers for trade in because she had an accident on the report (even though it was stupid. a sign fell on her car in a parking lot, but it was still there and lowered the value). Because of that I decided to try selling it privately.
5) Take good pictures of the car!
6) List it. I used a few websites. Facebook, Cars.com, CarGurus. Some of those sites did cost money but it was worth it because I got a serious offer relatively fast. CarGurus will also act as a third party to handle the payment and provides a secure way to connect with buyers. I ended up selling it to a buyer via CarGurus.
7) Think of a safe place to meet. I met in the parking lot of Roosevelt field when showing the car.

so as you can see it is a pain in the neck but in the end I got a good value for the car and sold it to someone who cared that the it was a good car that was well taken care of. I had additional headaches since the original owner was deceased and I first had to get the title transferred to me, and then wait for a new title, get new plates, new inspection, etc.

Just remember the DMV part of the transaction might be a pain now because they aren't quite open.

Get a quote from Carvana. They gave me a surprisingly good number on my Audi. Must have been a high demand car.

I would just post on Facebook. People buy up used cars at good prices very quickly! I listed my old car on Craigs List actually. I had a million inquiries, and sold it in like an hour. The guy paid 5k in cash. It was easy peasy
