Mask care

How do you wash your masks (hand wash?) and how often do you switch them out during the day if you're out among people all day?

Also, where do you buy your masks? I ordered some from Etsy, but I might need more so I'm not washing masks every day Chat Icon

Re: Mask care

I put it in a lingerie bag and wash it on the delicate cycle with free and clear detergent (because i don't want to be overwhelmed by smelling scents when I'm wearing it right up against my nose)
Then I hang to dry.

I got some on City Threads- but I like the ribbed one I got on Live Love Game Day better. (these are clothing sites that started making masks as well recently).

I wash it every night. I don't change it out during the day but I'm only wearing it to run into a store or a restaurant to my table etc. I'm not wearing it amongst crowds of people for hours.

Unless it was a quick contact like I just had to interact with someone coming to do work on my house outside, I throw it in the machine when I come home. I do not put them in the dryer.

Re: Mask care

The instructions always say handwash. Glad I can machine wash. Thanks for the heads up!

A lot of my clothes say hand wash too but the gentle cycle on my machine and a lingerie bag is fine. My machine even has a hand wash cycle that is even slower and more gentle for really delicate things.

I make my own from 100% cotton fabric. I wash and dry them in a delicates bag with free and clear detergent and no fabric softener or dryer sheets. Sometimes I'll iron them if I'm feeling fancy lol.

Re: Mask care

i just put it in the regular wash with whatever load i maybe doing and they help up fine.

I use the same one all day and maybe another day if I only ran into a store for a few minutes and i left it in my car.

I have gotten some from this place. they are comfortable and reasonably priced. Me and the kids like them

I mostly use the regular surgical masks that I throw away after I've used it a few times (short trips into a store or to walk to a table in a restaurant).

I also have a few reusable masks that I hand wash after a few uses. The seamstress at my dry cleaner makes them - she has hundreds of fabrics to choose from and you can pick 2 different fabrics (one for each side) for each mask

I’m still using the disposable ones. They get gross from my makeup so I feel I would have to constantly be washing

I throw them in the washing machine and dryer. I don't don't change them out throughout the day. For what little time I'm out and about, it's unnecessary.

I use surgical masks and cloth masks. I use the same mask all day and I'm often out all day, although I take it on and off, I don't wear it while alone in the office or in my car, etc.

I throw the surgical mask in the garbage at the end of the day. I throw the cloth ones in with regular laundry. I dry with my regular clothes as I feel the dryer helps kill much of the germs.
