Cluster Action Initiative....thoughts?
Testing students if their school is in a “yellow”?!?! I’m sorry, I’m not testing my heathy child. No way.
This virus has had a ridiculously high survival rate. Hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. We know how to to treat it now.
When we had a flu outbreak in our school that literally took out half the school nothing was done and the flu is more harmful to children than this damn virus!!
ENOUGH!!!!
I feel terrible to kids and parents, and most of all, business owners who are losing everything. If their area is in one of the colors they can barely operate!!

Cluster Action Initiative....thoughts?
If I lived in one of these hot spots and my choice was between full remote and weekly testing I would choose weekly testing. I wouldn't be thrilled about it by any means but there are so many districts across the country and even some in New York that are still full remote so I'm grateful we even have the chance to stay open.

The tests are not even accurate.
From what I read, if they can’t meet the percentage of tests required than they have to go remote. He is becoming a dictator.
Did you see what he is doing to restaurants? 4 people per table under yellow. Take out only under another. These are people’s lives!!!!!!
Quarantine the vulnerable, not the heathy. Test the sick, not the heathy. There is no common sense here.

What kind of tests are acceptable?

Just because you aren't showing symptoms doesn't mean you don't have it.

Cluster Action Initiative....thoughts?
And let's be honest...the specific population that contributed to this does not utilize the public schools. Flame away. But Cuomo said it himself. We are all suffering because a select group of people believe they are above the law. It is vile and disgusting.
He said, this does not spread in schools, in spreads in mass gatherings, particularly concerts and RELIGIOUS GATHERINGS. But, let's close schools but keep religious institutions open?

The PCR test is accurate. The antigen test is not as accurate ad usually results in a false NEGATIVE due to too low of antigen levels present.
Asymptomatic people do not have symptoms but pass it onto others. People who appear "healthy" may not in fact be healthy.

Have scientists actually determined how to treat it? No. They have two therapies. Both *may* reduce hospital stays, but they are by no means a homerun.

Over 1/3 of teachers are in the high risk age group and I am sure another 1/3 have risk factors. With that said, teachers do not want to teach virtually. It sucks. I am teaching virtually and in-person simultaneously currently and it is terrible. I wish everyone could be in person every day. If I was teaching in a hot spot though I would prefer virtual teaching over contracting Covid. I would also prefer having my child to learn remotely for a few weeks and/or be tested weekly to help limit the spread.
The only way to get a handle on this disease is to limit community spread. Closing things is necessary. It sucks, but it is proven to work. Once community spread is limited, things can reopen again.

Cuomo can't win without their support And their schools will stay open and their large gatherings will continue as they never stopped/closed.
Have the maps been released yet? Our county exec said he was expecting them tonight. We are in the same county as a hot spot but, I would think we would not be in any of the zones - but, I can see friends kids in other districts being impacted.
My thoughts are if my kid needs to be tested to go to school, he better be going for the full week.

Yes, maps have been released. In NYC, many zip codes that DiBlasio listed as his "13 zip codes of concern" aren't in any zone, not even yellow. So confusing. And yes, I agree that things need to close when there is community spread. HOWEVER, the way Cuomo is doing it makes ZERO sense. For example, a shopping mall in Queens sits half in orange half in yellow. So...what does that mean for the mall? Catholic schools that have been open for a full month with not one case. Two people in total tested positive across all the public schools in the nine worst zip codes. But, they are being punished. Yet, the very people who caused this are free to still go to worship. There is zero rhyme or reason to this madness. If you want to do it PROPERLY, I am all for it. But WTF is this hot mess?

Is your school impacted? I hope it isn’t.
This isn’t going to work as they don’t listen. I’m worried we are going to end up with a county wide shut down where there has only been one case in our district.

No. My children go to school in Nassau, and the catholic school I teach in is not even in the yellow zone, however we are not that far out of the yellow zone. But my heart breaks for all those this impacts. I am assuming you are in Rockland or Orange. I hope this helps. I hope the whole county is not shut down- one case in your district is great. They shouldn't be punished for doing the right thing.
