I think nurses/doctors are being reasonable. DS went to nurse with a stomach ache. She felt bad (DS had no obvious signs of a stomach virus), but told me that I couldn't bring him back to school without a doctor's note with an alternative diagnosis or else he'd need a covid negative test. The ped was very understanding and said it sounded like constipation. She wrote me the note I needed for DS to come back to school.
So now every time my daughter is backed up, because she eats a shittty diet with like zero fiber, she would need a doctor's note?
I think stomach aches in kids are so common. Constipation, nerves, gas, sometimes I think they claim stomach ache without even having one.
How many kids who actually had covid actually presented with a stomach ache and nothing more?
Probably slim to none.
Honestly this policy just makes people lie to the school anyway.
Just make up a non-illness related reason they missed school (assuming they didn’t go to the nurse).

It's really sad.

We can't go back with just a doctors note, we need a proven testable diagnosis - you need a negative Covid test unless you have a positive flu or strep test, as well as a Drs note. They worded it in such a way that you could come back if you had the flu but I don't think that is their intention lol.

Yes haven't you heard? Your period may be a sign of Covid now. Women should quarantine for 14 days as soon as they get it. Which will bring you right to ovulation again, and symptoms of ovulation can also be signs of Covid so please quarantine again for another 14 days. So pretty much, if you're a woman, never leave the house just to be safe.....

My DD is remote, but my sister is an aid at her school for the older grades. If she wanted to take a day off from work- even a scheduled vacation day- she would need to provide a negative Covid test before returning to school. Now that is just ridiculous overkill to me.

There has to be something inherently illegal about that from a labor law standpoint I am sure.

Right? I thought that was crazy. The only reason I think they can get away with it is she doesn't have paid vacation time- it would be taken as unpaid or out of her personal time... but even still- that's her business! I mean if you don't trust your staff to not be responsible on their days off are you going to start testing them every Monday?

That seems ridiculous. I have to get a cavity filled in a few weeks so I need to take the day off. I can't imagine needing a Covid test because I had a personal obligation on a work day.
