christmas cookie spinoff... desserts
i'll be hosting a small christmas eve dinner. i believe there will be a total of 12 of us... if everyone comes. most likely 9.
i'll be making a traditional dominican/cuban christmas eve dinner (pork shoulder, rice, beans, yuca, salad)... but i'm drawing a blank ok dessert. the traditional dessert will be a little too labor-intensive since i'll be working a full day.
so...
i'm looking for some favorite christmas eve desserts that can be made ahead of time and/or are on the easy.

are you allowed to have guests over in your area? in NY we should not have gatherings with more than 10 people due to Covid. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Really? I don’t think 2 people will make a real difference, not to mention she even said most likely 9 will show up. Can we make an effort to not post judgemental comments and let others enjoy their holidays?

How about making flan? It’d go perfect with ur theme, or Struffoli. I’ve been meaning to try to make it for a longggg time. My sister’s mil used to make it every year and she made it seem so easy. It’s yum!!!

I made a beautiful gingerbread cake with cream cheese frosting once.
Last year I did a vanilla cake with sautéed apples (like applesauce) between the layers and salted caramel frosting.
I got the recipes on pinterest

Op...i make a yummy and super easy pumpkin cheesecake pie that is awesome for the holidays.
I can find the recipe.

Just out of curiosity, what is the traditional desert that is too difficult?
Can you ask someone else to bring the dessert? You are already doing a lot & also working,.
My fancy Christmas dessert is a yule log, which is a also a pain. If I don't need to the make the main dessert, I make cookies. they can be done in advance.

CUBAN BUNUELOS are what i usually make for the big christmas eve family gathering. it's a multi-step process. i don't know if i have the gumption to make this for only a few of us. i usually make a couple of trays for about 50-60 people.

Churro Cheesecake Bars or sometimes referred to as Sopapilla Cheesecake Bars, though these are anything but authentic. This is my go-to. They are AMAZING and so super easy.
