Shiplap....is that what it’s even called? Am I the only one who sees the old wood paneling when I see it?? I just can’t get on board with this trend lol

Re: Shiplap
When I think of paneling I think it going vertical not horizontal like ship lap is usually. I think it is nice but so overplayed on the design shows.

I love shiplap in a home for the time period. Definitely adds character. But I can't stand seeing it in these modern homes. Its everywhere, its overdone, and I think it's going to look dated in another few years or so...

Re: Shiplap
I think the whole farmhouse (unless on an actual farm) trend is on its way out.
I’ve seen some designs with shiplap as more of an accent or where it was original to the house and it looked nice. Shannon’s house in RHOC seems to be 100% shiplap and I think it looks ridiculous.

I think it’s one of those things you’ll regret in the short term

I love it. I think though that it is getting over used. I like it when it's used as an accent wall or something small. Doing a whole room is definitely overkill.

My SIL loves the farmhouse decor. Every time I go into their kitchen and see the “farmhouse” sign I want to gag lol they live in a suburban colonial lol I just don’t understand buying things that look old lol
But they also walk into my house and ask if my interior decorator is still alive bc it looks like an old lady lives here lol

Re: Shiplap
the backsplash of my kitchen is shiplap ... which is the one wall and not a lot .... I would never to a whole room in it.
I didn't particularly care about having my DH suggested and I didn't care. Our kitchen "remodel" we just did was just to make my kitchen look presentable. ANYTHING would have looked better than the puke green tiles that were there before and the peeling yellow paint!! I lived with it for almost 10 years before my DH finally decided to paint and take the tile down (thank you pandemic for this!! ) so really I agreed to whatever he wanted just so it can get done
I didn't realize people do whole rooms with it! I definitely would not!

Re: Shiplap
I like it as an accent wall. I like the rustic natural wood looking, not the white. I think that will be out of style soon.

Re: Shiplap
I am not a fan. I see shiplap - I think paneling. Like the kind that was in my basement growing up
