How does one justify the many, many incendiary things that Dems have said and separate them from the impeachment? As an attny, It’s a dangerous route to impeach a civilian. Is it really worth the risk?

Re: Just to keep it civil...and without mentioning Trump...
Nobody is impeaching a civilian. He was POTUS when he was impeached. There has been several previous incidents in US history when a person was convicted after they were no longer in office. In some states, they can't be put on trial until after they are no longer in office, by law. If a President can't be put on trial after they leave office, and they can't be impeached with only a few weeks left in their term, it means that a POTUS can literally do ANYTHING they want, including insurrection, murder, grand theft, and have ZERO consequences.
It's a dangerous route to allow a POTUS to attempt an insurrection without consequences. Is it worth the risk to not make him accountable? What will the next Inciter-in-Chief attempt if he/she can get away with anything they want?

Uh hum. And you justify the Maxine Walters’ of the world? It’s ok to incite violence when it doesn’t suit you’re narrative?

Didn't really see much action come from what she said. The one who shall not be mentioned, however...yeah, we all saw that.

If you had posted a specific thing someone said rather than just "many, many incendiary things Dems have said" I might be able to intelligently respond.
I'm not sure if you are claiming that you are an attorney, or referring to members of the House. Based on the absolute fallacy of your statement, I can only surmise that you are not an attorney. An attorney would know that an impeachment is the equivalent of an indictment. An attorney would know that at the time the House drafted and passed the Articles of Impeachment DJT was in fact the POTUS - not a civilian.
As for your last question - is it really worth the risk - I will answer your question with a question - do you want the US to become Myanmar? This is not a rhetorical question. To allow an attempt at a violent overthrow of our democratic process to go without any consequence is to invite a larger/stronger/more organized attempt in the future.
Let's follow the attempted coup to the logical conclusion had it been successful . . . DJT would still be president as the result of a violent takeover of our government. Upon his death, one of his children would take over - unless there was another violent coup. And so on, and so on, and so on. Is that the type of government you want to live under? One that is in power (and corrupt) by force? There is a reason Putin is not considered an ally.

How did you even remotely come to that conclusion? There's no logic in that statement. I didn't justify violence of any kind.
Based on your logic, you apparently think it's OK for a sitting President to attempt to violently overthrow the government after 5 years of stoking fear, distrust, and violence in his followers.

Of course I don’t think it’s ok. But I also think that just because Trump raised the temperature of a crowd doesn’t make him responsible for the insurrection. If other politicians were held to that same standard then there would be boatloads of impeachment hearings.

This comment shows a distinct level of ignorance and misunderstanding of what actually took place in the months leading up to the insurrection and the day of January 6th itself. Were you even paying attention the last few months? Have you watched even a minute of the trial so far?
He didn't just "raise the temperature" of a crowd, he spent MONTHS conditioning his base to believe that the election would be stolen from him. When he LEGITAMELY lost he then continued to fan their insanity by insisting that they need to help him "Stop the Steal" and take the election back, an election he lost fair and square. He told them OVER and OVER again that the "truth" would come out after all of his (fake) evidence was presented but of course he had no proof yet that didn't stop him from leading them to believe he still had won. He told them for MONTHS that they had to fight for their country and to not allow the "left" to steal their rights or this election. In the days leading up to January 6th he riled up his insane base and told them to come to D.C. because it was going to be "crazy". Angry mobs descended upon Washington and that POS stood on a stage and enraged them further, he told them the he'll never concede, he continued to insist he won, he said Mike Pence better step up and "do the right thing" and then he LITERALLY told them to march to the Capital and he will go with them. He didn't "raise the temperature" of a crowd in the moment, he spent MONTHS doing EVERYTING in his power to get his base angry, keep them angry and then come to do his bidding in Washington on the 6th.
When the violence finally erupted Trump sat in his office with a $hit eating grin on his face reveling in the violence and chaos that HE alone incited. He didn't condemn anyone, he didn't call in the National Guard, he didn't do anything other than sit back and CONTINUE to insist the election was stolen from him, Mike Pence was weak and that these garbage humans were "special" and he "loved them".
The sitting POTUS, the PRESIDENT for God's sake, encouraged, participated in and ignited the flames of this insurrection. Period. Let that sink in. The PRESIDENT of our country called upon his stupid, ignorant, brainwashed base to overtake our government. The PRESIDENT!!! Don't sit here with your false equivalency about some passing comments other politicians may have made that resulted in literally ZERO violence, uprising or chaos. I am so tired of people like you who spout off with no understanding of the facts at hand and who are so brainwashed themselves that they are unable to see Trump for the frightening, power hungry, self serving, tyrant that he was (and is).
Trump is guilty as sin and we MUST hold the leader of our nation to a higher standard than literally anyone else in this country. Sadly, the Republican party as a whole is trash so they won't hold him accountable but history will remember how they failed our democracy and our country.
ETA - Even if ALL Trump did was "raise the temperature of a crowd", the President of the United States had NO business showing up to or participating in a rally full of angry people who thought the election was stolen from him and who were trying to disrupt the Electoral College vote.

You're kidding, right?
He's the POTUS. His words are the MOST powerful in the land. What he says is practically biblical to some people.
HIS words had POWER. He chose to use his words and he KNEW people would listen.
He IS responsible. They ate up everything he said and ran with it!

What about the flipside of doing NOTHING while the siege is happening? Literally nothing while members of Congress are hiding in fear of their lives. Nothing as the Commander in Chief as the Capitol is being compromised. Nothing as the Capitol police officers are being beaten and killed. Nothing. Is that an impeachable offense?

Re: Just to keep it civil...and without mentioning Trump...
Certainly.
The second impeachment trial is winding down. Today, Trump lawyers are presenting their defense. David Schoen and Michael van der Veen effectively showed that some Democrats have excused political violence and even bailed out violent rioters and arsonists.
David Schoen presented videos of Democrats and celebrities -- Rep. Maxine Waters, Biden, Pelosi, Madonna, Johnny Depp, Cynthia Johnson, VP Kamala Harris, Sen. Warren and VP Kamala Harris -- talking about fighting.
The video replays the word "fight" so much it's comical. But some clips are effective.
In one video, Biden talks about wanting to punch Trump. In another, Kamala Harris says the BLM protests and riots would continue.
Trump's lawyers also showed a series of House Democrats trying to object to the certification of the 2016 presidential election.
My point is-if we’re going to expand the definition of “incite” ALL political leaders should be held accountable.

All the celebrities opinions are moot. And there is a HUGE difference between saying "Man, I'd like to punch that guy in the face." and repeatedly rallying a group of citizens to act out- the most powerful man in the country (a title held by NONE of the people you mentioned at the time any comments were made) TOLD Americans regularly to "Take back their country". He TOLD THEM to do it.

Great, so you fully admit that trump is 100% guilty of inciting the riot. Glad to hear that you agree with us.
Then, you can bring Madonna in front of Congress and impeach her, too. Try and impeach a politician for one, out of context, phrase. This is NOT about one out of context word. This is about 5 FULL years of CONSTANT inciting of violence. CONSTANT cheering on of every time he saw his followers commit actual physical violence. There are many cases of violence happening at his rallies and throughout the country, and him cheering it on. He knew his followers would resort to violence. They always do, and he was counting on it on Jan. 6th.

EXACTLY.
This defense is a joke and Trump's words and actions are in a class of their own. Random "mean" comments are nowhere near the same as a repeated assault on half this country coming from the POTUS for the last five years. January 6th was the result of ONE man fanning the flames of hate, division and anger.

And, in any of those incidents, where did the rally/protest march up and proceed to siege a US Capitol building?
None of those speeches, exclamations or such had resulted in a siege on our Capitol unless I missed it. Whataboutism is not a viable defense although it will work in this case. ETA: Are you really comparing a compilation of clips, gathered over years, that the defense put together as being the same or worse then 45's speech on the Ellipse in front of a crowd armed with deadly weapons?

Just to keep it civil...and without mentioning Trump...
He encouraged violence for years
He invited them to Capitol
And if he’s not held accountable, it sends a message that it’s OK if it happens again.
