2021 Accomplishments & Goals

let's start a new one!!

2020 is behind us; thank goodness!!!!

what health and fitness goals do you have for yourself in 2021?

for myself:
* short-term - i want to lose ALL the weight before my skin removal surgeries. i'm currently at 150.

* long-term - i'm planning more skin removal for later in the year. i would like to get back into the gym/classes and work on strength. i also want to re-start therapy. it's been a long time since i've spoken to someone.

ok, peeps... what are you hoping, wishing, planning, doing for 2021??

2021 Accomplishments & Goals

After my chemo mess (I'm in remission!!) ends in February, I'd like to make an effort to eat healthier. I'm working from home so I should have no excuse for cooking better meals instead of unhealthy fast meals.

I also have to wait until my body is back to normal but I'd like to lose weight. I dropped 20 pounds quickly when I cut out sugar and bread/pasta and I loved the way I was looking. I won't be going to the gym until it's truly safe but my bf has a Peloton and a good neighborhood to walk/jog.

One of the things on my to do list is to run a 10k. We'll see if my body recovers enough to do it by the end of the year, but it's something I've always wondered if I could do. I've never had the stamina to do it, but I've realized that going through chemo treatments is similar - it's about mentally getting through something unpleasant to get to the end result.

so happy that you're in remission!!

you can definitely do a 10k. if i ran a marathon, ANYONE can run any distance.

look into jeff galloway. he does the run-walk-run method. no one says you have to run the entire distance for it to "count."

I have the C25K app that's worked well for me in the past. I think my problem is that I usually give up when things get too hard. But after going thru all this cancer stuff, I know that I have it in me to force myself to do really hard things that are meaningful to me.

Re: 2021 Accomplishments & Goals

147.2!!!!!

i have just barely crossed over the minus 100 pound mark.
i've been here before, twice.
i have learned so much along the way... about myself, about my body, about weight loss, about loving myself, and about my self worth.

i still have 17.2 pounds i'd like to lose, but i will take it little-by-little.

i also made a large partial payment to my first two skin removal surgeries, which will take place next month. yay!

i'm nervous, excited, scared, nervous, nervous... did i mention nervous lol.

i've "given up" on shedding any more in the next week. i'm concentrating on protein, water, rest, peace. and if i'm never a size 2, who gives a crap. i've lost 100 pounds (something i thought i'd never do).

Re: 2021 Accomplishments & Goals

woo hoo!

skin removal surgery is done!
the doctor said that there were 7 pounds removed from my body. according to the scale, i've gained about 9 pounds - which means i'm at a net gain of 16. ah, swelling!

today is my first day back at work and i'm feeling surprisingly well. i'm purposely working at not overdoing it. i don't want to have more swelling because i took things too far.

She's baaaaaaaaack and ready to take over the world!!!!!!

I wonder if he has a scale in that table, I had the same stats! He took off 7 pounds of corset skin but when I came home I was up 16. Weird! Then, he removed 3 more from arms.

I'm still up 12 pounds from my lowest - which is better than the 20 that I was, but still. Ugh. I am hoping when the weather is better I will get in some more activity to make this a bit easier.

i will never be able to thank you enough for all the help you've given me through this process!!

i have been giving updates in my weight loss group and there are two ladies there who are seriously looking at dr. moya for when they reach their goal weigh!! he's famous in my internet circle!

looking forward to the day the compression garment can be thrown into the fire pit and i can wear "normal" clothes. for now, small walks, taking my pills, resting, and learning patience Chat Icon

Anytime! Chat Icon

That is funny and a crazy coincidence, yesterday I went into my 'surgery' drawer and found my camis, zip up PJ gowns, binders and marena. I told DH we needed to fire up the firepit in the backyard soon and get rid of them. Still wearing the arms Chat Icon

Re: 2021 Accomplishments & Goals

week 2 back at work and i feel pretty darn good.

a lot of the numbness in my legs is gone (not all) - i still feel numb right in the groin area.

my weight is slowly coming down... woo hoo!

can't wait until all the compression stuff can come off. dr said that the thighs have a slower recovery time and will have to stay compressed for a total of three months. i'm almost at 5 weeks post-op, so they should be free to see the sun by my birthday.

i'll be able to start working out in another week! looking forward to gyms opening up and my being able to start with light workouts!

Good news that your numbness has started going away - hopefully nothing will be permanent. I still have arm numbness, for the past 2 days I have felt so itchy one spot of the incision - I itch it but no relief because the skin is numb so signals arent transferring down into the actual itch. Argh!

I'm on month 5 of arm compression. Today a larger pair is coming to see if I slowly wean myself off of them if it wont be as painful.

Re: 2021 Accomplishments & Goals

OK, late comer here, sorry Chat Icon.

2020 was a really good year for me health wise. I finished it off at about a steady weight of 125-130.

My problem with my diet was that I drank wine a lot! In 2020, I significantly reduced it (even with the pandemic, lol) and now in 2021, I am reducing it even more to about once-twice a month on average. But for some reason no wine means I gain weight. Oh well.

So my goal for 2021 is to concentrate on getting the weight at a steady 120-125, but no calorie counting. Vitamins and nutrition. I was undernourished from 2017-2019 and it affected me. A lot.

I also want to work on doing more exercise. This lockdown has really affected that because it’s cold and I prefer walks and biking as exercise.

Very nice! When I drink, I gain. Probably because brain stops working rationally and bad food tastes better. So I eat everything in sight!

Good plan to focus on vitamins and nutrition and composition instead of just calories. Its hard to deprogram old habits.

Agree with you on the outdoor activity. The cold weather really does put a damper on everything. I can't wait until I can get my bike out again and start having that as an activity.

it's never too late!!

i know that wine can be a difficult habit to break... especially in 2020. WAY TO GO on accomplishing that goal for yourself.

Re: 2021 Accomplishments & Goals

Thank you, thank you!

Wine is such a tough habit to break. You never realize how much you have until you really sit down and break down the units. That one glass of wine that most people will pour after a long day of work? That’s two units. Doctors recommend 7 units per week.

It’s been really good and I feel so much better. However, we are headed to our toughest lockdown over Easter coming up. I hope I don’t crack.

Q1 check-in.

I lost 9 pounds this quarter, it feels SO SLOW but there was also leftover holiday and some birthday food to eat. I dont think I was really concentrating on losing until Feb. I guess this is what it is like to be a normal weight person and try to lose weight. I used to drop 6 in a week, ah the good old days.

This next quarter I'd like to lose another 10, maybe it will be easier since I wont be recovering from surgery and weather will be nicer. So I will be much more active.

don't forget the math. a smaller number of pounds lost from a smaller body can still give you the same PERCENTAGE you were losing before.
you're TINY, woman!

way to go on continuing the work.
