another recommendation, please... mother's day help
i would really like to thank a friend for being amazing. i'm looking for a nice gift to give for mother's day.
she's in her early 40s, has five kids, is a hairdresser.
she loves to cook/bake/craft and just being an amazing mom.
no booze. she doesn't drink because of religious reasons.

A basket of good oils and spices and some new tea towels - nice ones like you can get from Williams Sonoma.

Find out what her particular speciality is within cooking and baking and get something specialized for that. So if she likes Indian cooking, get some hard to find chili powder or herbs or spices. Or a mortar and pestle if she prefers to make her own spice mixes.
Or if she is interested in a certain food as her some stuff if she can make such and such and get a kit (e.g. sushi making kit).
Something along those lines.

How old are her kids? Send her for a mani/pedi and watch the kids.
Or really, send her to do anything and watch the kids. Just watch the kids!

This exactly! I think any mom would really appreciate this at some point! 
Or what about a cooking class?

thanks for all the ideas.
with the help of the ideas and her husband, i've made a decision.
i will be taking her kids for a day and baking her a cheesecake. she loves "my" cheesecake - which really belongs to our very own hofstra. i'm telling you, woman, you have made me a cheesecake goddess in my little universe!
you're right, a mom just needs a break to take a deep breath.
