What’s A Hobby You’ve Always Wanted To Try?

Is there a hobby/activity that you've thought about trying, but never got around to?

I've been talking about getting a forge and forging my own knives. I've been saying I'm going to do it for the last 2 years or so, and I've thought it was cool for a lot longer than that... maybe someday. Chat Icon

When I was little my great aunts taught me how to crochet, I'd love to learn how to do that again.

I generally have a black thumb, lol, but I'd really love to learn how to start and maintain my own vegetable garden.

ETA - I've always wanted to learn calligraphy as well. Chat Icon

I've always wanted to learn how to sew so I can hem my own clothing and do simple alterations. My grandmother was a seamstress and it kills me that I never learned from her.

Over quarantine I taught myself how to play the ukulele so that's a new hobby that I love.

I would love to learn a new language.

I also knew how to crochet, or at least the basics, and totally forgot. But I think if I picked up a pattern and gave it a whirl I could do it again.

i'm already a knitter/crocheter and i love it. i've been playing with yarn since i was 7.

in the world of fibers/fabrics, i would love to learn to tat, get better at sewing and quilting - would love english paper piecing.

in the world outside of fiber, i would love to garden, refinish furniture, and learn another language.

That's cool. Do you play any other stringed instruments?
Why the ukulele? I learned the didgeridoo years ago because the Internet said it would strengthen my throat muscles and help with my snoring.... it didn't, but it's still a cool instrument. Chat Icon

I wonder if in a normal year you would be able to do something like this at Scout camp? My son did metalwork at camp and said it was his absolute favorite merit badge.

No, they don't have forges. I did learn welding from Scout camp, though. They started doing the badge at camp about 4 or 5 years ago, so I learned the basics there, and I've been teaching my Scouts for the last few years.

making wreaths. After spending hundreds on wreath-making supplies, I've learned that I like shopping for craft supplies more than actually making anything.

Growing vegetables. I'm trying that this year. I've already screwed up by impulsiving buying three little fruit trees without reading the care label. I have nowhere to store them during the winter months! So I guess I'll have to find a relative to give them too.
