Does anyone think all the testing requirements will be waved by October/ November?

I’m watching prices climb and just want to book our trip to the Caribbean but I have a fear of someone in our family testing positive and being stuck in an island. Or someone testing positive before we go and losing money.

Myself and my husband have even said we would get vaccinated if it meant we didn’t need to test, but I will not get my kids vaccinated.

Basically I was hoping someone had some inside info as to whether or not things would be loosened up by the fall/winter.

In my opinion, not a chance. I was just reading about vaccine rates globally. Very low. I think that would impact international travel. Then add on the stress of variants.

Doubtful. And even more so to the island nations. If an island has an outbreak it will wreak havoc on the small island nations more so that larger countries.

A lot of Caribbean islands require testing even if vaccinated

I don't think they will be waived either.

No reason to waive all of the requirements until there's herd immunity. Especially when whole populations, like kids, have no access to the vaccine.

Ugh, guess we need to start looking into tropical locations in the U.S.

I can’t spend all that money and worry about testing.

Doubtful. The Delta variant (and Delta +) is throwing a spanner in the works.

I would just get tested as I know so many who are traveling now and it really is no big deal and you will get to go away :)

International travel

They won't be changed and there will probably be stricter restrictions on what unvaccinated people can do while on vacations (if at a hotel or resort). The cruise lines are already sending out separate activity lists.

I am sure those lists for the cruises will change as they will lose a lot of money at the bars and casino as that is where ships make their most revenue.

Nope, I personally know someone whose child tested positive when they tested to come back to the US. They tested negative prior to the trip and somehow tested positive while away. It was a nightmare and based on what they told me I won’t leave the country until testing is lifted.

Yes and only one parent stays with the child. They couldn’t leave the room and could only get room service. Meanwhile, the rest of the family wasn’t quarantined and could enjoy the vacation even tho they were close contacts. Makes no sense! But the thought of being in a foreign country by myself scares me or traveling without my husband if he has to stay back scares me.

Look at Playa Largo in Key Largo ....very kid friendly - they have a kid's club and activities daily and my daughter loved fishing off the pier there...they have people who help the kids fish etc
Also Isla Bella in Marathon .
Both stunning

You would need to test negative, even if you are fully vaccinated, as of now; and I don't see that changing anytime soon, specially on the islands, IMO.

We just came back from St Kitts and when we booked we only needed the test, but when we traveled the have put on more restrictions and we needed to be fully vaccinated for longer than 2 weeks, DS as a minor was the exception for that rule.

It was very stressful. Luckily everything worked out well, but we were worried until the day before that we got the admission letter to the island.

As they have said, better to look domestic if you don't want to stress a lot about it.

Does Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands require testing as well?
