At the very LEAST she should be able to dictate WHO is in charge of her estate.
It’s beyond words. To have an IUD in that you don’t want and they won’t let you take out?
Forcing you to perform?
Withholding access to your kids unless you do this or that?
She couldn’t even hire her own lawyer.
My gut feeling is she was sexually abused or assaulted. She said a few things that made me think she was referencing that. I believe one day when she is ready she will tell the world.

Honestly I think both her and her sister were abused. Jamie Lynn was part of the rumors with Amanda Bynes during the whole Harvey Weinstein case. I blame their parents and truly feel they pimped their daughters out equally. I am not sure why the mom gets a pass.
I do think she needs a conservator but not the current ones. Everyone now who is speaking about free Britney didn’t see how much she unraveled years ago and the history or mental issues. She lost her kids to Kevin Federline. I’m not saying she is not a good mom or person but I do think she needs someone trustworthy to monitor her. It’s hard to find that person when you are that rich and famous. Sad she can’t rely on her parents and family.

I think the boyfriend is someone they said is great for her and wants to marry her and have kids. He seems to look out for her. The rest of the bunch just have their hand sticking out for more and more.

This whole thing is bonkers. Perhaps she would still benefit from a conservator but why not choose an unbiased neutral party for her? Her dad as conservator is insane at this point. He is preventing her from having children and getting married??!!! Much less capable humans get married and have kids everyday. She is almost 40 and they are taking away her chance to have another baby. What are they worried about? That the boyfriend will leave her and want full custody and child support? He won’t sign a prenup? Where is her mom?? Let her have her life and make her mistakes if so happens to be.

The whole thing is just awful. I saw today that she will be allowed to appoint her own lawyer now. Hopefully she can finally gain some freedom. I just don't know how this was (and is) allowed to happen in this day and age. Poor Britney.

I agree. It's like everyone has forgotten just how dangerously unstable she was when this arrangement went into effect. It wasn't just a wild and crazy phase. She was/is not well.
Hopefully the judge can sort through this and make a fair ruling.

While I agree it's totally plausible she is mentally ill or even unstable, why does her father have to be the conservator? Why can't a neutral party be in charge? (Asking in general, not you specifically). It has been reported for a very long time that they do not have a good relationship, even before the whole conservatorship went into place. If she feels like he is abusing his power, she has every right to fight to have him removed. I'm not sure why it's taken this long for her to be granted permission to obtain her own legal representation, rather than a court appointed attorney.

There are 2 conservator positions- 1 of the person, and 1 of the estate. He was both.
a company was brought in to be co-conservator of the estate, but the lawyer delayed the paperwork & they didn't really get a chance to do anything & now they resigned ( seemingly because they don't want to be involved if she wants out.)
He was also the conservator of the person but he temporarily resigned due to health issues, but he won't' resing fully. A natural party was appointed as temporary conservator of the person & her position was extended until October. The next hearing is in September, so there is a possibility that the lawyer will try to end that part of the conservatorship altogether.
She tried to hire her own lawyer before, but the court said the hit had been previously declared that she didn't have the capacity for that, but apparently the is no capacity declaration on file.

Yes, I know--that's my point. That he is only doing it for the money--he's made MILLIONS from it and he never should have been appointed to begin with. They've always had somewhat of a strained relationship. It's just crazy to me that he's been able to have such control over her for so long, especially when he's had his own substance abuse issues and had a restraining order filed against him for "shaking" Britney's oldest child a few years ago. Like, what makes him qualified? It's been mishandled from the jump 13 years ago. It's just a crazy situation all around. I hope she finally gets some peace soon. Keeping someone under such strict constraints can't be good for anyone's mental health.

This might be an unpopular opinion since everyone seems to support ending her conservatorship BUT I think she is a freaking wreck. Her dad might not be the best person in the world but there is a reason courts and judges didn't side with this girl for YEARS. Just scrolling through her Instagram account alone it's clear she hasn't matured past the age of 14, she sounds and behaves like a child.
I 100% believe that once she's in control of her own money again the next story we'll be hearing is how Britney is bankrupt. No doubt. The girl is a mess in every way.

Totally agree.
Everyone seems to view her dad as a greedy and manipulative. But if not for the conservatorship she would be bankrupt and possibly dead (she was certainly heading that way after her breakdown). Maybe, just maybe, he actually WAS trying to do the right thing.
Perhaps a neutral party should be the ones to make decisions going forward. But I really doubt her dad was controlling her for his own gain. And FTR anyone holding this position is entitled to a salary so I see nothing wrong with him making money as her conservator. I'm sure it was a full time job.
