They are already saying they are planning attacks on America. Isn’t this great…. Imagine the mean tweeting orange man pulled out of Afghanistan this way and Americans were killed and attacks planned on America??? There would be riots outside the whitehouse and he would be growing thru an impeachment….but nothing for this guy. It’s a joke.
Trump is part of why we are pulling out of Afghanistan. He was the one that set the ball rolling and even has said that he boxed Biden in. Do I think the withdrawal went smooth - no - Could it have been done better - maybe. Trump also did a lot more then "mean tweets" - he almost started a war with Iran with his tweets were stopped that almost started a war with North Korea.
Did we have any wars with Trump in office? Did he not have a top leader killed? Now we wait and see what Biden’s Administration will do. It is not ONE person who does it all. Many think the world finds Biden and Harris a joke so we will see.
The Longest War doesn't count? Because I am pretty sure we were still at war in Afghanistan until this month. We also had military action and strikes. As of now, the US has not declared war on anyone so Biden has not started a war either. Many found Trump to be a joke too. What is going on in Afghanistan is a NATO effort as well. But, you are right...we will have to see where and how this Administration handles and does with the challenges.
Trump didn’t start that war, we can’t blame anyone but the presidents before. This has been going on for 20 years. But because we have to blame the president that is in, when things happen, Biden is the one who gets blamed right now for the 13 military who have lost their lives under his watch.
And unfortunately that's the price of war.

I was responding to this part of your statement...." Did we have any wars with Trump in office" which is not the same question as did Trump start any wars in office. He also didn't end any wars either but I digress. Yes, it is currently Biden's administration and even when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy to which Biden responded..."I bear responsibility for fundamentally all that’s happened,” Biden did bring up the deal Trump made with the Taliban and how that deal is a fundamental reason that military has not been killed since 2020. And Trump's deal is what Biden was left holding and why Trump states that "he boxed Biden in". What do you think the Taliban would have done if Biden disregarded the deal? Do you think the Americans would be happy with that and then the need to increase troops in Afghanistan again? Do you think the Taliban would have surged their shoulders and went about their day or do you think the Taliban would have retaliated with aggressive attacks on our military and Americans in Afghanistan?

Well, Biden better put his big boy pants on and step up, because listening to his speech yesterday didnt convince me.
I agree and I hope that he does hunt them down and will not forgive. He has ordered plans to strike ISIS K already.

Not a chance. As I have mentioned in several old posts-but a fact that goes largely ignored-is that there were SEVERAL CONDITIONS that were to be met before pulling out. These conditions were NOT met. Therefore, if Trump was still here (and I was not his biggest fan) then there would have been no pull out.

IMO, it doesn’t matter whether we, the US or NATO, feel the Taliban fulfilled their side or not; if they do feel they did what they were supposed to do and the US and NATO pull out of the treaty – what do you think the Taliban would do? There haven’t been any US casualties in Afghanistan since 2020 because the Taliban feel they are meeting their stipulations. But, if Trump felt that the Taliban was not fulfilling their obligations or at least not enough to continue with the treaty – why did Trump pull troops out – from about 13k to 2500K even with the Taliban continuing attacks on Afghanis? And if Trump would have stayed in Afghanistan…do you think the Americans would be okay with spending troops and more money there?

To answer your last question-yeah, I do. For the sake of security in the region at the very least. People on these boards act like Afghanistan is the only place where we have (had) troops to maintain peace. It ranked #9 for locations where the U S has military personnel until this recent clusterfjuck. Why not uproar about the money we spend in Japan, Korea or Italy? This move was purely motivated by politics and Biden has proved himself an incapable leader.

Re: Explosion at Airport
Then why did Trump pull troops out? Why the America First campaign? IF Trump was so willing to maintain our military presence and even in crease it - then why was he pulling troops out up until the end of his term and why use ending the "Forever wars" as a campaign promise. Both Trump and Biden are and were eager to pull out of Afghanistan. I just don't see why, in May of 2021, Trump would suddenly switch from the his actions up until that point to pull out and then renege on the very treaty he put into place a little over a year before.

Again-I don’t disagree with a pull out. There were 2500 troops left by the time Trump left office. However, there was absolutely no conceivable reason to pull-out in the fashion Biden did. That is the issue. Who the hell removes troops before removing and securing all civilians and equipment ? Who removes troops when not all conditions of a treaty are met? It’s not that I disagree with the theory we shouldn’t be there any more. It’s that I disagree with the administration’s callous disregard for the decades worth of hard work and the value for human life.

Then why did Trump pull troops out? Why the America First campaign? I agree with the sloppy pull out. Not disagreeing that the Biden and his Adm need to take responsibility for it. I do question where Intelligence was and why our Intelligence didn't know that the Ghani would flee the country with money and that the Afghani military would drop and go. IMO, that is the biggest f' up because that opened the door to the Taliban. Why didn't our Intelligence know that Kubal would fall in days - not weeks or months which the US thought they had to remove personnel, Americans and whoever else wanted to go. Biden pulled out thinking that he had until the end of the month and our gov't should have known that we did not. But again, Trump was removing troops with conditions not met. This f'ck up started with Trump and the treaty. Not denying that Biden f'ck up too.
ETA: I think you mentioned that the reason that equipment was left behind was because of the costly nature of removing it.

Re: Explosion at Airport
At this point, it's semantics because we can speculate all we want but no one on this board - or least could admit it - really knows what is going on in the Pentagon or the White House. We didn't know before and we don't know now. We can only guess based on the information that is given to us which is only a small part of it.
