Summer Lyn Photography
I'm sure all of the old timers remember Summer Lyn Photography. She's so amazing, we used her back when my DD was just 6 months old.
Anyway, I got super lucky and scored a date for one of her fall mini sessions!! A few months ago she ditched her formal pricing and went over to a "give from your heart" model. So my question is, what do you think is a good amount to give her for a mini session (about 45 min) with 15 digital photos? Normally I pay around $175 for mini sessions but since it's Summer Lyn I was thinking I should give more.
What are your thoughts? Thanks!!

Lol - I answered you on the other board.
I would say about $200. A little more than you usually pay but not much more. Im sure its more generous than others as I am sure others hearts dont think they should give as much.

Thanks for both replies.
I just want to make sure I give enough for her time and effort, I was thinking a little more than the standard mini session price as well. In my head I was thinking maybe $250ish but was curious if others thought that was too much or too little.

I pay around $250 for a mini session now I think with my photographer. It's about 20 min and she usually gives me all the edited images because I'm a repeat client. I'd giver her around that I think

I completely agree. We did a photo shoot with her in 2009 and back then we thought the pics were amazing. Compared to how incredible she is now, those pics are just ok. lol

Re: Summer Lyn Photography
I would suggest around $250.
The photographer I use charges $275 for a 45 min mini session. I am not sure how many images are included but I always get more than 15. I do tip her extra because I have a toddler so it is a lot of work attempting to get her to cooperate for pictures (has been since she was 6 months old).
I would put her work along the likes of Summer Lyn if that helps at all.

I would do about $250. She is very talented and I think that is terrific she is changing her pricing to be inclusive to all.

just wondering. why give more because of who she is? also, why is she allowing people to decide what to give, never heard of such a model.
I would not like that concept, to much pressure LOL, it seems what ever amount you give is ol

I feel obligated to give more mostly because she's become so well known and ordinarily, very expensive to work with. I forget the specifics as to why she went over to this "name your own price" model but ITA with you, it's a lot of pressure. LOL

Is this how she’s gonna be doing it moving forward or is it like a one-time thing?

It's been this way for a few months now. My guess is it must be somehow making her more money in the end. Who knows.

I don’t recall the details, sorry, but that’s probably why the pricing changed? Don’t know?
She does have talent and we all go through hard times, so hopefully it’s on the up and up.

I booked her for a newborn shoot and she completely ghosted me when it was time to do the photos. She completely ignored my emails, phone calls, etc. Same thing happened to my best friend. I had to scramble to get another photographer. Recently, on a local mom's board, another girl I know well posted that the same thing happened to her. People began to step forward saying that the same thing happened to them.
