Can someone explain the California Governor recall?
Is that something frequently done?

Newsom will probably stay.
Basically, opponents were able to gather enough signatures to prompt a recall. Much of it had to do with the covid. Pics of Newsom dining without a mask. He’s a hypocrite.
The other dude Larry Elder is the top of against him and is a terrible human being IMO. His positions are outrageous. Even worse than Trump.
Lesser of two evils yet again.
Not uncommon - maybe 180 times has this happened.

I don't think it's frequently done. From what I understand a certain percentage of people have to petition for a recall in order to get an election to try to get the governor removed.
From what I understand between the crime in CA, high cost of living, COVID measures and Newsom breaking the rules he put in place especially during COVID, there were enough pissed off people in CALI to petition for his recall and honestly and good for them.
Whether or not he gets recalled this should be a reminder to every elected politician that their job is to serve the people not their own interests.

I wish more politicians thought this. They all think they are untouchable and forget that they are supposed to be serving the people. California is a total mess!

I read about it. Completely disgusting and racist and I absolutely condemn that behavior.

I don't condone violence. Larry Elder has said some pretty disgusting things himself. I can understand why people are angry that a man like this is the leading Rep. canidate. "... Violence Against Women Act, which was signed into law in 1994, was passed with the goal of "redistributing power from the ruling class (men) to the oppressed class (women)..." "...Elder endorsed pregnancy discrimination, ...suggesting that working mothers aren't "dedicated" and available for an "all-hands-on-deck commitment" to work..."

It's not that common. CA did it with Gray Davis when Arnold became governor. That was because people were unhappy with him. This last one was a desperate power grab attempt by conservatives.
