Mother daughter getaway recommendations?
I was thinking Gurney's but the reviews as of late are horrible. I'm kind of shocked to be honest but I'm not spending all of that money to not enjoy it. Any suggestions? I want a nice hotel, nice restaurants available, there doesn't necessarily need to be a spa but maybe a winery or something fun to do nearby. Mohonk? Within say a 4 hour drive.

Mother daughter getaway recommendations?
Gurney's in Newport is good. A little expensive, but I liked it there. I've been to Mohonk twice with a day pass. I personally wouldn't stay there because it looks very outdated. But we stayed at the Starlite nearby (super cute...think Schitt's Creek motel), and the Roxbury (so awesome). They have day spa packages which give you access to the entire property. We did a dining package, which it says they don't offer now, but you can call because they often keep the info off the website.

Mother daughter getaway recommendations?
I stayed at Gurneys last December and I liked it but the spa was not open. Not sure status now. I went in April with my mom to Newport and we had a great time!

Per the website, its still not open. I was reading traveler reviews on trip advisor and there is a whole lot of complaining going on.
Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Ugh, my husband and I are staying at Gurneys next month for our 10 year anniversary. I have always wanted to stay there but could never justify the price. Agree, I read recent reviews too and they are not great...and spa is still under renovation.
We are paying 700 a night...so if its not as great as its supposed to be I am going to be annoyed.
On the flip side, I just want to relax, read a book and enjoy alone time with the hubs, so Im sure it will be fine.
Look into Woodlock Spa in the poconos...its supposed to be amazing. I wanted to go there but they didnt have our dates available.

FYI, Gurney's Star Island Resort in Montauk has a Travelzoo deal right now. It's one of their top 20 deals so it will probably sell out quickly but it's worth checking out

I ended up booking Gurney's in Newport. I feel like there is more to do in Newport. But thank you!
