Re: Did anyone go to Gabby’s Memorial?
No, I don't think I would go to a memorial for someone that I didn't know. I find grief to be more of a private thing. If something like this happened to one of my kids I am not sure how I would handle the public nature of it. I know her mom came out and thanked everyone for the support and I am sure most people would be comforted by it but I am not sure I would. My dad died when I was in my early 20s and I just wanted to be left alone.

Re: Did anyone go to Gabby’s Memorial?
I read they had their own service earlier and will probably do their own private family wake when they have her body.
So many wanted to offer their condolences that I guess they wanted to allow them too.
The love for Gabby and the family is wonderful. Such a horrible thing :(

They already brought her home and she was cremated.
I didn’t even consider going; just doesn’t seem appropriate. I think it was going to draw a lot of true crime gawkers.

Fox just said they don’t have the body yet and the urn was empty.
The family will have a press conference on Tuesday so I guess we will learn more.

I agree. I guess they were ok with it bc they made it public? But seems so inappropriate to me.

It was a memorial and not wake so I guess they decided they would let the public in and then have their own private wake when they have her remains. So sad and just glad they have gotten the support they truly need right now.

Did anyone go to Gabby’s Memorial?
I live very close and while I was very drawn to it, it felt wrong. I know it was open to the public, but it felt like too personal an event to me and I just didn't feel right about it.

I know many felt this way and while I have followed the story constantly, I didn't feel that in my decision NOT to go.
I think the mix up is the difference between a funeral and memorial. They could have had this memorial outside someplace else (like they did on Friday) and everyone would feel differently. Because it was in a funeral home some felt it was only for the family. This one was intended for all the people who wanted to pay their respects.

My town had a candlelight vigil, which I felt was more appropriate for stangers. So I did that.

I didn't, but I can see why people who didn't really "know" her would and I also see why her parents would open it up to anyone...the whole country was captivated by her story and hoping and praying she would be found safe.

I saw many videos and it was just beautiful.

No, I didn't feel the need to attend. It's a sad story and I feel for the family.

That is how I feel as well. Also, I would never go and rubberneck someone else’s tragedy. I pray for her family.
