Ugh, I’m so sorry! Hope you feel better soon! COVId is rampant right now on Long Island. I know 2 fully vaccinated (Pfizer) adults and several kids that tested positive in the last week. Ugh!!!!!
How soon after exposure did you feel sick?
I have no idea when I was exposed

Ugghh hope you feel better. The thought of no taste and smell (well sometimes in my house of males lol) frightens me.

I tested positive
Feel better!
Most people on Long Island have been vaccinated, so I guess it makes sense that most people testing positive have been vaccinated. Thankfully it seems like your symptoms are mild. Hopefully they stay that way!

Was it a random test? And was it the rapid one? My friend had a false positive.
I hope you feel better.
Can I ask how your friend determined it was a false positive?

It was a self administered test that was purchased at a pharmacy. It was followed up by the formal test which was negative.

I tested positive
First, hope you’re feeling fine.
I’m genuinely wondering about these tests recently. All of a sudden TONS of people in my circle and my town are testing positive. Vaccinated and unvaccinated. They all literally have a stuffy nose or a sore throat. Many assumed allergies. All summer during the “delta surge” there was crickets. Now everyone and their mother is testing positive and just have a quick head cold.

What are you implying here, that it's fake and not really covid? False positive tests?

You quoted me but I wasn't implying anything. I was joking about something brought up on another thread. You'd have to ask the other 2 posters who brought it up

We do know that viruses mutate. So maybe this is the mutation of it that comes with basically just cold symptoms now. Maybe? Or maybe that's what most vaccinated people end up feeling. Cold like symptoms and nothing else. I mean we know how easily the common cold is spread and so many people get them

How amazing would it be if there is a new strain and it is just cold like symptoms. A girl can dream!

Same thing in my town. Tons of kids and some vaccinated parents. Their symptoms vary though from what you are describing to much worse. This is the most cases I have ever heard at one time in real life since this started.

I tested positive
It is possible to have positive antibodies that stem from a different coronavirus infection that is not SARS-COV 2. However, there have been multiple PCR testing protocols that prove that the PCR will only diagnose the virus that cause COVID-19. It will not detect the four other common strains of coronavirus, including those that cause the common cold.

I have never experienced a total loss of taste and smell with a common cold. I am just going to be glad I have the vaccine as we all know it could have been worse...

A total loss of taste and smell is the most bizarre (and unsettling) experience. I've never experienced that with a cold either, a cold diminishes your taste and smell but COVID literally wipes it out. I couldn't smell or taste a single thing, literally nothing. It took weeks and weeks for it to come back. It was really slow going but thankfully it returned to normal.
Glad you're not having a severe case and hopefully you're on the mend soon!

Never with a cold but I had some crazy virus about 10 years ago where I lost taste and smell. It was definitely freaky. And annoying.
