Cancun / Riviera Maya

Thinking of taking my three young kids to an all-inclusive here. For those have gone - is it safe to take them on excursions away from the resort? If so, any recommendations?

Re: Cancun / Riviera Maya

We are looking to go back. We stay at the Grand Moon Palace, many of my friends have gone there and went on excursions, and felt very safe.

Looking to go Feb. break. We have a voucher, so all we need to do is pay for airfare, but the prices that week are insane.

Sometimes being a teacher stinks, and dont want to go in the summer.

Re: Cancun / Riviera Maya

I think it is. We went once to Playa del Carmen and a couple of times to Cancun as a family. We rented a car (didn't stay in all inclusive, so we went out for dinners a to get groceries), and we went to Tulum and Chichen Itza. It was beautiful. Another time I went with 2 of my girlfriends and we went to X Caret, which it's a theme park and I think it would be nice for kids. I feel it is safe there if you stay in the touristic areas.
