My crazy birth story!
I had been having prodromal labor for a week - contractions that started and then stopped. So the night of Wed, Sept 21st at 8:28 when I started having more painful contractions I kinda didn't think anything of it. They stayed irregular for most of the night, coming every 10 min, then 7 min, then 12, etc etc. I showered, and around 11:30 decided to try t get some sleep. I dozed on and off, waking for contractions, until about 2:45. Then I was up, and they started coming with a bit more intensity, but still far-ish apart. At 3:15 I told DH to call his mom to come watch DS but she didn't have to hurry. 15 min later I told him scratch that, hurry. She got to us at 3:50. I went to the bathroom and was bleeding, which was a bit scary. My contractions were fairly painful but still irregular. I would have two about two min apart and then not have one for 7 min. Anyways, we left the house at 4am. Got to NSUH in Manhasset at 4:28am. I went straight to L&D while DH parked, I bypassed registration because by now my contractions were strong and constant. I walked in and said I need to push. It's a bit of a haze then but somehow they got me in a wheelchair and to a bed (I said "I can't sit down I can feel the baby coming"). They checked me and I was crowning. DH made it there as I was pushing, my doctor wasn't there I was delivered by two residents. Amelia Claire was born at 4:40am, exactly 12 min after we got to the hospital. No drugs, nothing, out she came 7 lbs 2 oz, my surprise girl team green baby - I was sure I was having a boy!
Crazy.

Congratulations! How did you handle no epidural? I was in excruciating pain for baby #2. I was 8cm when I checked in but, like you, I felt the baby coming. I remember being told with my first that after 7cm they wouldn't give me an epidural.

OMG this is my biggest fear - not "knowing" when to go to the hospital because contractions aren't in the normal consistent pattern they always tell you to look for. You made it just in time! Congrats on your little girl. I adore her name

This is gonna sound insane because I do NOT have a high pain tolerance but...it wasn't awful?
The last hour of contractions were bad, and the last few minutes were really bad, but I pushed twice and out she came and I was just SO INTENT on getting her out that it maybe didn't feel so awful?
I dunno. It was an easier labor than my first, and I had an epidural with him.
