I CAN'T ANYMORE!!!!
The school nurse just called me because my kid was flushed. He has pink cheeks like me. It's shortly after lunch, they may have went out.
Thankfully, since he has a negative test from last Monday and no new symptoms he's good to stay (as he was as confused about him being sent to the nurse as I was).
But I don't have the negative test results and the stupid office is closed for lunch!!!

I’m confused. Did the nurse think he had a fever because he was flushed?

The teacher sent him as his face looked red - I guess she thought he had a fever? He has no fever... He had just finished recess... Where since it's warm enough today, even though he's in shorts he runs around and gets sweaty. And red.
ETA - the nurse let him stay since he's been tested in the past 8 days and has no new symptoms but I never new red cheeks with no fever was a sign of covid.

My daughter was sent home two weeks ago because she literally LOOKED TIRED. And I needed a doctor’s note to return.

That’s a new one for me too. It doesn’t make sense she would think it’d be a sign of covid knowing he went outside, he was running, and then coming to the heat inside the building. It’d totally make sense why his cheeks were red.

It's insane!!!
The nurse was like um, well, he's not asking to go home.
I was just floored... I finally got through to the pediatrician and they will email me the results some time today. I should've asked for a print out while I was there yesterday but it's good to know that if there are no new symptoms within 2 weeks, they don't have to retest.

I CAN'T ANYMORE!!!!
So ridiculous. Last year my youngest was choking on a piece of hair that got caught in her mouth because of the stupid mask and she spit up a bit. They wanted me to pick her up. I hung up the phone after I was done laughing at them.

Omg how ridiculous, your story and the OPs as well.
Next the children won’t be allowed to breath.

I know. They let him stay because he was tested last week (when he prob had the flu but it wasn't covid so nobody cared lol). But really, if he hadn't had that test - I'd have to get him tested because his cheeks were a bit pink? He hadn't gone outside but they don't seem to be opening the windows in our school and he tends to run warm.

He wasn't really red though - he was pink as the teacher said - which he generally is... He's pale as a ghost when sick (like he was last week when he likely had the flu but nobody tested him for that).

I CAN'T ANYMORE!!!!
Two weeks ago, 4yo had what ended up being a double ear infection. We kept him home the whole week, he needed a negative test to return. Got the negative test, he went back the week of Christmas. The second day back, they say he is still coughing, come get him. Kept him home the rest of the week and the holidays break. They said he needed ANOTHER negative test to return. Finally went back today with a negative test after having to go to one of the mass sites for hours.
He is 4 years old in pre-k.

I am sorry - that's so frustrating! It's hard because people are congested and congestion usually wraps up with a cough.
There aren't enough testing facilities available. We just got a mass facility in our county and yest am, the first day it opened, the first available appts were on Friday.
Our school, I found out yesterday, says 1 negative test is good for two weeks if symptoms have improved and no new symptoms have appeared.

I feel so bad for these kids. They've been through so much. Two years worth of disruption in their lives. The rules change by the hour, so I can't keep up. Why do essential workers get to go back after 5 days, but kids have to be out for 10?

Right? You can be treating sick patients in a hospital 5 days out from Covid but you can't sit in a classroom, socially distanced with a mask on as a child.
Makes sense. Makes sense.

It's honestly ridiculous - esp for a 4yo in prek! But what choice do I have but to follow their rules so my kid can go to school? It's so wildly off base now and we're holding the bag trying to keep up with their rules.

The CDC recommends 5 days for all now (they clarified) if there are no symptoms - for both quarantine and isolation. Hoping the state adopts that soon.
But the initial reason is that they would have a huge collapse of the system without the essential workers.

Also though, I'd much rather have an unvaccinated nurse who is covid negative treating me than a vaccinated nurse back 5 days out from having had Covid. But here we are....

the key to all this they are not supposed to be back unless they are not showing symptoms.
so many got so bent out of shape (not saying anyone here did more on other social media sited) when they said essential workers can come back after 5 days but if everyone read what it really said was you had to be symptom free or resolving your symptoms.
which i would take as my DD for example we have covid in the house again after just getting exactly getting a year ago. she had a stuffy nose. I tested her with a home kit cause she was exposed and she wanted a friend to sleep over I felt bad not testing cause this friends mom always tests them to make sure they don't expose anyone to the virus so I did and sure enough she was positive. took her and my son to dr to confirm. both positive her more than him!(yet he developed a cough lol) she ends up with just the stuffy nose that is gone maybe 2 days later but is still stuck in the house for 10 days. her bday ruined her mad at me. it would be nice if she was now allowed out before 10 days.
im glad they are doing the test to stay so we dont have to have healthy kids out for 10 days anymore just from exposure. though now my kids i was told don't have to quarantine at all anymore for 90 days if they are espoused (which is why i got both kids officially tested)

Yes - not showing/symptoms resolving.
It will definitely be good if it's adopted - especially for those exposed who never get Covid, 10 days is long!
