2022 Winter olympics opening ceremony
Normally I believe in supporting all the athletes by watching and cheering to some degree. They work so hard.
some countries, the athletes have no choice, china, Russia etc.
This year, they Olympics should have been cancelled, as hard as it for me to say.
They should never be allowed to be held in certain countries, like China
my vote is always for USA and Israel!
thoughts.

I am loving the music! So festive and pretty.
I am not sure how I feel about them being cancelled but I certainly wasn't thrilled about them being in China again.

I don't know why they chose China but that being said, I definitely don't agree with canceling the Olympics. Ever.
These athletes work entirely too hard for so many years to get to this point and for many, this might be their only shot at an Olympics. We should never punish the athletes, canceling would be cruel. A better hosting country would've made more sense.

I do not think they should ever cancel the Olympics. I do not understand why they chose China again as they just recently had the Olympics in China. Not a good time to be going back there.
I actually think they should hold the Olympics in Greece where it started to begin with. Make the location permanent and then they could build it up how it should be instead of countries scrambling every couple of years to build a whole housing structure and sports areas.

normally I would agree to not canceling the Olympic, this is the first time I think it should and they do need to get rid of the governing broad.
Real sports just had a great show on this issue, they had a similar show for the summer games, and COVID, Watch both if you can

i agree with the latter part, it's very costly to build what is needed. One location would be great.

I don’t think the olympics should ever be cancelled but it shouldn’t be in China again.
As far as the costliness to build the facilities I believe that’s far outweighed by the revenue the olympics generate. I don’t think having it in only one country would be fair. Plus I think it’s cool to let doffeeent countries host.

I agree. I like how the different countries bring in their culture to the opening ceremony.

Im finding it so hard to watch this year. I dont know why, maybe because I feel it should have NEVER been in China to begin with.

I thought I heard that they chose China 8 years ago so I am sure they have been planning for years so not easy to just change. I get it though as I agree it shouldn’t be there.

Yes, they select these way in advance. China was decided in 2015.

my vote is always for USA and Israel!
Between both Winter & Summer US has hosted more than any other country & is set to host Summer 2028 (LA).
Host cities
Each city has to submit a bid to be considered, and no city in Israel has ever applied.
Winter Bids
Summer bids
Almaty, Kazakhstan was almost the host for this year & that would have been interesting because they have never hosted & not as much is known about their culture throughout the world as compared to China.

Re: 2022 Winter olympics opening ceremony
Summer games seem to have more nations that want to host. China got this winter because no one wanted to build everything and it is expensive to maintain. I love the Olympics and firmly believe they are good for society at large.
