Party Question - would love your opinions!
Trying to plan my daughters 8th bday party which will be on a Friday evening in early May.
The entertainment is a dj/ dance party. What timeline makes the most sense to you ?
A 5:00 Arrival and Pizza 5:30-7:00 Entertainment 7:00-7:30 Cake
B 4:45 Arrival 5:00-6:30 Entertainment 6:30-7:15 Pizza and Cake
C 4:30 Arrival 4:45-6:15 Entertainment 6:15-7:00 Pizza and Cake
ETA: thanks everyone! The working parent thing isn't an issue for 95 percent of the guest list . And the food would be either right before any entertainment arrives or right after the entertainment leaves as I agree kids don't want to stop to eat lol

I would go with A. If it’s a Friday, most people won’t be home from work before 5 PM. Plus, they’ll be hungry and won’t want to wait until the end to eat.

I don;t have kids, and was going to say C but I'm thinking that might be too early like NYCbuslady said.
A

Re: Party Question - would love your opinions!
Can the party be later as I know when I had young kids I would have had to leave work early as I didn’t get out until 5?
I would say eat first too though as kids won’t want to be interrupted after they start doing things.

I don't have kids, but based on work schedules, I would say definitely A.

Re: Party Question - would love your opinions!
IMHO, if you could make the party later than 5pm that would work for the majority of working parents.
Unless you know for sure all of the people you are inviting will easily be able to make it there by 5pm.
Also, eat first then play.

I agree. I am having my son's 9th birthday party on a Friday in March, 6-8 pm. But if 6 is too late, definitely do option A.

I think the later start time is better BUT, I don't think kids will arrive and want to eat right away - they will be excited for the fun to start lol.

I think a later start is better but I would have the pizza after the dance party.

I was going to start later and do food at the end but I'm a bit worried that if I don't feed kids till 6:30 or later they will get hungry ? What time are you doing food ?

We are doing it a Ninja Warrior gym and the party structure is gym time the first hour. So they will eat pizza at 7 and cake around 7:30 just before they go home. I told parents dinner would not be served until 7, so they would give their child a snack or light meal before coming to the party. Hoping it works! My only other option for a Friday party was 4-6 and that was just too soon after school.
