Keeping your weight in check…

Ever feel like a total uphill battle?

I am not meant to be slim. I’m not. But I fight the fight constantly since puberty and it’s exhausting. I’m having a “moment” the last almost 4 weeks where I just can’t calculate my food intake. I don’t want to. I know I’ll eventually “get back on the wagon” but right now, the thought of meal planning, weighing and measuring makes me want to scream.

And because I haven’t watched every morsel, I have gained approx 7 lbs and everything is tight.

Mostly a vent because I know I'm not alone in this.

Yeah - it's really frustrating. The thought of doing all of that - just to lose some weight - seems overwhelming. But I know I have to do something b/c I've gained 30 pounds since I was diagnosed with cancer last year.

This is the heaviest I've ever been and I HATE the way my clothes fit.

Right there with you. And I run 5 times a week! Scale hasn't budged in ages. But I just can't track and count and weigh and all that. I don't have the mental energy to do it. It's so hard. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks guys. I’m sorry you’re struggling too.
The past few days I haven’t started weighing again, but I have started more mindful eating. We’ll see if that makes a difference when I weigh myself on Friday.

I’m experiencing this right now. After the summer, I stopped working out and prepping my meals and I’m now almost 4 pounds heavier. I feel like I’m gonna lose all the progress I’ve worked so hard for. Chat Icon I keep making excuses as to why I can’t workout. It’s tough because I feel like I’m alwayssss going to have this uphill battle. Either I’m working out and watching what I eat (by being disciplined) or I’m gonna lose weight. I hate that. Tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start!

I have given up the battle with my weight. I have been on a diet since I was 14 years old and I am 40 now. I'm sick of it.

I am not obese and I won't let myself get to that point, but who said I need to be a certain size in order to feel good about myself? I can run, hike, do whatever I want even though my thighs are chubby and my ankles are thick.

I follow many people on instagram who are anti diet culture and it's helped so much. Why, as women, are we told we have to be below a certain size to be accepted. My body serves a function. It's purpose is not to be attractive to others.

Keeping your weight in check…

I tracked macros for a few months a few years ago. That’s the only dieting I’ve ever done.

I have found that increasing my daily non exercise activity has helped me keep my weight in check. We do an after dinner walk every day. It’s a good activity and gets everyone off their devices. Probably gives me an extra 2000 steps a day, which makes a big difference long term.

Re: Keeping your weight in check…

Wanted to update now that the site is working again. I’ve continued mindful eating (with some binging in between) walking a few days a week. We also just got a peloton tread so I’ve started doing walks on that now that it’s cold outside. I lost 3 lbs in about 5 weeks and gained them within 1 week of not calculating every morsel of food.

It seems I either live like a robot and always stay on track or I’ll never lose the extra weight I put on.

To answer a PP, it’s not societal pressure really. It’s more that I feel terrible when I’m heavy. Im tired. My joints hurt. And then there’s the internal issue of I have terrible lipids. Started cholesterol meds 2 mo ago because they were outrageously high. So I have to watch what I eat and have to keep my weight at a good place. I just HATE how hard it is for me! I binge Because it’s such a battle. If it was second nature and just how I lived, I wouldn’t be tearing apart a meatball sub at 8:30 in the morning like I did today.

I’m so “good” for 5-6 days in a row and then I lose it all in a day or 2 and I’m back at the beginning.

Yes, you are not alone! I have always yo-yoed throughout my years. In 2019 I had lost 30 lbs on weight watchers, then gained during Covid and pretty much back to where I started. I think I also get bored of having to measure everything out.

Re: Keeping your weight in check…

Now the LIF has made a comeback, I wanted to add to this

You name it, I’ve done it. I have battled the last 2 mo with my weight. Intermittent fasting (which usually works) low carb, calories counting, daily exercise I lost 6 lbs the first couple weeks and as of today, I gained 4.5 of those back.
I will add I haven’t gotten AF in almost 60 days so menopause is knocking hard. So I’m imagining u til my hormones figure out WTF they are doing, it will be an uphill battle that I continue to lose week after week. Kinda at the end of my fitness rope tbh

I was able to be relatively the same for years but chemo threw me into menopause and I immediately gained 30 pounds in a few months. It's been a struggle to keep it from just going up and up.

I’m so sorry. It’s really tough!

I normally wouldn’t be so extremely upset about it because I’ve always had weight issues but I have quite a few events coming up and I have to start looking at 2 dresses and a gown for end of summer. I went today and nothing fit right. Not one thing. I left there feeling defeated and hungry.

Nothing but HRT is supposed to help with this but with family history, it’s a big risk that I’m not willing to take right now.
