Another what would you do
So we’ve wanted to upgrade our house for a while. We always saw it as a starter home. However , we love our location , it’s very central to everything, shopping , restaurants , friends etc “. We’ve looked in the current market at nearby towns but everything we are interested in is 150 k more than we want to spend. We found a gorgeous house that is 250 k to 300 k lea expensive than if we stayed in our current area. It’s a perfect home and affordable. The downside is that it’s a 15 to 20 minute longer drive to most places I regularly frequent ( my part time job , favorite shops , close friends homes , child’s activities etc ). Alternatives are to stay in our current home which is nice / comfortable but feels small for us or spend another 1300 per month on a mortgage for a home we like local to us. Thoughts ?

I always think its better to be closer to family and friends. 20 minutes is not that far but it's far enough to be annoying.

15-20 minutes is not that big of a deal to me. My concern would be the extra $1300 a month. That is a big increase a month whether you can afford it or not.
I would only do it if the increase in mortgage isn't going to be a struggle or tight for you and you really really love the house.

I'm a naturally risk averse person, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't think this is the time to take on a higher mortgage.
I'd stay put for now, especially since you love where you are.

Oh then if it's the mortgage is around the same or cheaper, 15-20 min is not a big deal for me especially for more space and if I loved the house. I would do it.

Re: Another what would you do
i live about 15 minutes away from my parents house (where i grew up) and constantly am going there and its really not a big deal to me.
I even food shop in the area cause I like the stores better than ones by my house!
