Re: Workplace matter - HR professionals please chime in too

If you work with the Sr. HR Manager, maybe wait a week and ask if they were able to speak to that person. If it really bothers you, then I wouldn't let it go.

Workplace matter - HR professionals please chime in too

I would wait until the Sr HR Manager approaches me. But if they hadn't within a few days, I would approach them and inquire about what was discussed and the action taken.

This. I wouldn’t follow up the next day. I imagine everyone is busy and cannot follow up on these things immediately.

Just out of curiosity, is this behavior a pattern with this particular supervisor? I ask because I cannot imagine getting someone into hot water over one comment that may have been a (very awkward and yes, inappropriate) bad joke.

This particular Supervisor has been known to be manipulative, a word twister and there have been warnings made by former colleagues' to "watch out" for him. He cannot be trusted.

Not a big issue needs to be made IMO, but it needs to be addressed.

Workplace matter - HR professionals please chime in too

Personally I would have just said something myself and not go to HR if it was the first time.

You asked “HR Professionals” to chime in, so here is my technical answer. If you are in NY, all are covered under the NYS ant-harassment laws and training requirements. The Senior HR Manager had an obligation to prioritize, look into immediately and circle back.
