Tomorrow is November which means time to start shopping!!! Can we share ideas for kids?

8 year old boy has only requested a new suitcase and a winter soccer hat. I swear I have the most practical child on the planet. Last year he wanted a comforter and bean bag chair.

I also added a team soccer bag and new soccer jersey. He also requested v-bucks, but I usually let others get him that because it’s an easy thing to pick up at target lol.

My son is pretty practical too - suitcase was on his list last year along with one hard to find lego and curtains as it's bright in our living room this morning.

This year - he's been asking for Legos. My older one is getting sporting equipment, baseball hitting lessons, some jerseys and some sneakers he wants (basketball and regular).

Having a 12 year old girl, the list is clothes, clothes and more clothes, sprinkled with a little bit of make up and skin care.

Does your daughter pick out her own things or do you still surprise her?

I feel like my DD is getting to the age of wanting to shop for herself, but then I feel bad she has no surprise presents.

Ugh yes! Last year I felt like she knew everythign she was getting and it was sad.
This year she's making a very speciifc list again- like putting the links to the items on Shein etc
While I want to surprise her, her tastes have gotten very particular lately so I want her to have things she wants and will wear rather than stuff that will just sit.
I think I'll throw in a few surprises like comfy throw pillows and blankets for her room, pjs, slippers, journal and pens, etc

My daughter is 12 too and she has a very specific list- not just "clothes", but links and which color/style crocs she wants. I do have some fun, small things in mind that I will surprise her with too.
So far her list is: gokart attachment for her hover board, crocs, Specific clothing items (shacket, sweaters mostly), smiley face slippers, wreck this journal, peachbaby slime?, skincare & makeup, squishmallows and art supplies (easel, resin things)

My daughter and I were just in D1ck's picking up knee pads for her for volleyball and right when we walked in, there was a display of beautiful, super soft North Face fleece hoodies and sweat shirts and sweat pants She was swooning over them, but they are kind of expensive because.... North Face. Chat Icon
I don't think they ever go on sale either or allow coupons to be used, but I was thinking maybe I'll surprise her with one of them. She never wants to wear a jacket, so I figure this would be something warm that she'd actually wear.

Great thread! I already picked up some ideas on here so thanks! (Not the living room curtains...those are on my listChat Icon )

My boys want an X-box so that's going to be a group gift. I know nothing about x-box so if you have any tips for models, controllers, etc, please share!

My middle guy wants a drum set and, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm considering it.

For you girl moms, I know the girls in my life are really into Kendra Scott jewelry. Hope that helps!

Target has Beats headphones on sale for $149. I got these for my son and niece (14yrs)

I also got my niece a bracelet with a red heart and Kate spade heart earrings she wanted. In case anyone was looking for young teen ideas.

Even on North Face? I always thought coupons and sales didn't apply on those brands.

Drum sets are expensive! My DD plays percussion in school and I was going to upgrade her home kit and really don't want to spend that kind of money.

For the XBox - I would suggest buying a refurbished one from Game Stop and getting the warranty. If you are part of their rewards program, they offer members only discounts throughout the year. I am sure they will be doing it closer to the holidays.

Get 2 wireless controllers and the charging cable.

I bought all of the above for my DS for his 7th birthday from Game Stop and they were very helpful. I didn't want to spend $500 on a game system for him as his first system. This was a great alternative.

I never know what and how much to buy because my kids always end up with a ton of gifts between what grandparents and other family give them, and from what they get from "Santa". I actually tried encouraging a Secret Santa exchange between the kids this year with Dh's family, so that each kid gets one gift and also eases the cost burden, but no one else was on board.

So my son keeps asking for a wireless phone charger so I'm adding that.

And don't laugh, but he always gets a huge package of batteries for his xbox controllers.

This reminds me of when I was in college and first few years working. My sisters would get me a 10-pack of subway tokens! It was very much appreciated!
