Annual raise %

What is considered a decent raise % these days with no job title change or drastic change in responsibilities? Same employer.

Re: Annual raise %

I am allowed to give my direct reports a standard 1-3% raise each year as a merit increase.
If I want to get them more, I have to plead my case to upper management- and state the reasons. (This person goes above and beyond, this person is my top person on the team, this person is paid below the average of their peers in the same position). I usually get it approved but it's never more than 5% with pleading. And if someone gets more, someone else on the overall team has to get less as we have a "raise pool" that we draw down from each year.
It totally sucks but it's always been like this at this company

Re: Annual raise %

Well, I am in civil service and inflation is 7%. They are still in talks and it will probably be about 5%. I also get an Xmas bonus of one month salary.

Re: Annual raise %

We usually get maybe 2%... a few years ago we did not get anything due to the company's financials.

I work in higher ed and it's usually 1-5% (but 5% isn't common).

Annual raise %

We received 3% but it's usually a range of 1%-3%. I always thought we were on the lower end but I guess we are about average.

Re: Annual raise %

I don't get annual raises at my current job but have had some since being there. Usually 3% is standard.

My last job everyone got a raise in January and it was average 3%.

In a recession/inflation - no raise = a paycut.

If we get a raise, it's like $5K so it depends on what you are making percentage wise.

Wow, nice. A lot more than I have gotten. I have had years where I have gotten that much, but I think because they had to push me up to what newbies were making Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Annual raise %

I worked for 4 years with not a dime for a raise. Then my boss got generous and gave me a 33% raise in one year. However, that was last year and I don't expect to get another raise for years. I also don't make a lot of money, so while the % is high, $ wise it was not that much. I am grossly underpaid for the type of work that I do but the trade off is that I have complete flexibility and it's very part time, whereas most people in my industry have to work extremely long hours.
