My bf and I are taking an RV trip this summer and we'll be going up the east coast (we live in NC). I want to hit states I've never been to (New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine) but we have 2 weeks. I was thinking that some places upstate NY might be nice since I've never really been.
Any recommendations? We'll be in a large drivable RV so we don't need to stay in a hotel.

I was going to say Lake George too and if you are history buffs you can go to Fort Ticonderoga - which is on some beautiful grounds right on Lake Champlain. They have gardens, hiking etc as well as the tours and historical shows at the Fort. I wasn't sure what to expect but the views and the grounds with the gardens were just stunning.
Also Saratoga is supposed to be nice and has he race track
All drivable from Lake George

We love Lake Placid. Beautiful there. You can drive up Whiteface Mountain and then walk to the Summit, which has amazing views. High Falls Gorge is awesome. There is Ausable Chasm not too far. Then there is Mirror Lake (the main lake in Lake Placid that people stay and recreate on). Cute main street. Lots of Olympic sites. We really like it. We went to Lake George for the first time last Summer and it was underwhelming. We had a good time, but much prefer Lake Placid.
I also really recommend 7 Seas Whale Watch in Gloucester Mass (if you are doing a coast drive). We stopped on the way back from Maine (couples trip) and it was AMAZING. The amount of whales and dolphins, and how close they were breaching next to the boat was just so awesome. Apparently most of their trips are like that since the area they sail out to is a whale habitat type area. Definitely a must!
In Maine, we LOVED Kennebunkport. Sandy Pines is a cute campground I've seen many times online. We loved Goose Rocks Beach, Colony Beach for sunsets, the White Barn Inn for dinner, and paddling on the Kennebunk river in a kayak.
In New Hampshire, I recommend the White Mountains area. Drive the Kancamagus Highway. It's gorgeous!
