Work done on house
We are having our bathroom remodeled. Would you buy the guys lunch everyday? I put a cooler out with bottles of water but since the 1st day they have been bringing their own drinks and going out to grab lunch.
Also, do you tip at the end of the job? They are not the owners.

Re: Work done on house
My DH does all our renos so yes I feed him lunch (and dinner)
But seriously, we did have our kitchen done by actual contractors a few years ago and we never provided lunch. We kept our outdoor kitchen cooler stocked with cold waters and sodas since it was so hot that summer.
They always either brought their own lunch or the owner went out and brought back pizza or sandwiches.
As far as tipping- I tipped the trades who came plumber, electrician etc But not the owners- they worked as well but I figured I was paying them directly for their labor

Re: Work done on house
We did not provide lunch. They brought their own and hooked up their microwave in the garage. We did tip at the end. One brother owned the company (he only came to my house a few days), another brother and a cousin worked for him. We tipped the brother that did most of the work (the non owner) and figured he could share it if he saw fit.

Re: Work done on house
Nope. Lunch should be on them whether they bring it or go and pick something up.
Offering water is nice though, especially if it is warm out.

If you look at it as a percent, almost 0. We just gave a flat $500.

Re: Work done on house
My DH is a contractor and he never gets lunch from the customer. Once in a while they will buy, but it's usually a friend of the family and maybe one or two days working there if he's working there for months.
No need to provide. They want a break too from work and either go out to eat or sit in the truck/van.
It's even nice you have waters. Most customers don't do that either. He brings several and keeps a cooler in his van

Work done on house
we had our downstairs done and they were here about 6 weeks. I stocked the fridge with water and told them to take as needed. I did buy them lunch a few times a week and they were very appreciative each time. We also did tip each of the workers at the end because we really liked them, they were neat and cleaned up every day, were polite to my kids and did a fantastic job.

Work done on house
We always have drinks in a cooler available for them. One time we had some work done and the same two guys were with us for a few weeks, so we got them lunch a couple times. My husband always told them the day before so they wouldn’t bring their own lunch and he asked where they wanted to order from.

Re: Work done on house
We have been remodeling a lot lately. In the beginning, I was buying them lunch but that was starting to really add up for a job that is already top dollar with the way things are right now. Now I just make sure I have drinks and coffee available to them (they really only drink the water for the most part) and I put out snacks for them. I do not tip. My DH was a contractor for years and he was almost never tipped.

Work done on house
We are having our kitchen done and I have not been buying them lunch. They seem to stay maybe 5-6 hours at a time so I don't feel like I have to. I offer them water but they always say they have it already so I even stopped doing that.
