Favorite thing to do in Philly

In a few weeks, we’re going to Philly to see a premiere soccer game. We will have probably 1-2 days to sightsee in Philly.

Anything that is a must see? We have a 9 year old so preferably something he’d enjoy too but doesn’t have to be 100% kid centric.

ETA- could also be in neighboring areas. We’re staying in Swarthmore at a friend’s house but they are actually away that weekend so we’ll need things to keep us entertained so we’re not in their house all day.

Favorite thing to do in Philly

My husband and then10 year old went this past December (my 13 year old and I met them afterwards) and they loved the Franklin Institute. I remember loving it as a kid. They spent hours there.

I second the Franklin Institute: my then 6 and 8 year olds had to be dragged out of there upon closing after spending an entire day exploring it.

Philadelphia Museum of Art is also a great place and has tours geared specifically towards children. The stairs of that museum is where the famous Rocky scene was filmed.

Betsy Ross House was a great hit as well: excellent for children.

Elfreth's Alley nearby, one of the oldest continually inhabited streets in the USA is definitely worth a visit.

Philly has many excellent restaurants and the one I can recommend that is definitely kid-friendly is Pietro's Coal Oven Pizzeria right off Rittenhouse square (which is another great place to visit). Make reservations because they get VERY busy.
