Better to drive or take the train from Suffolk? Going to a concert and thinking it might be less stressful to just take the train.
How would we go about that though? Is there a train straight there or would we have to transfer?

Re: Forest Hills Stadium

From Ronkonkoma to Forest Hills you would transfer at Jamaica.
I am not sure though how far the Stadium is from the Forest Hills LIRR station and how you'd get there once you get off the train.

Ahh ok. I went on the LIRR page and they didn't say anything about transferring on the way there. Just to stay on the first 6 trains. Ugghh. lol

If you go to mta.info, you can plan a trip from station to station. It looks like the Ronkonkoma line goes direct to Forest Hills. I know some of the Queens stations always have an annoucement that say "only the first xxx number of cars stop at the station", so you may want to check where you're sitting. And, I'm pretty sure the venue is within walking distance of the station.

Yeah I saw it say just the first 6 cars. Nothing about changing on the way there. Maybe on the way back.

Most train lines pass through Forest Hills - I dont see many trains on the Ronkonkoma line actually stopping there, so you will have to switch at Jamaica or you can just go to Woodside and take a cab/uber.

The stadium is walkable from the Foreset Hills train station - it is near the tracks.

Very few Ronkonkoma trains stop at Forest Hills- that is why you have to transfer. There are some that do- like 1 or 2 during rush hour/peak times.
If you put in the time you are leaving it will show you the train times and if you have to transfer.
I just did it to see and the majority say transfer

The stadium is only a few blocks from the LIRR station. There is absolutely nowhere to park over there. For that reason alone I would take the train.

Re: Forest Hills Stadium

Honestly, I am a firm believer in if there is any opportunity to take a train somewhere over driving you should do it.
Traffic is horrendous lately.
Not to mention finding parking, then the crowds trying to get out etc.

Always a much more pleasant experience on the train (believe it or not!)

Re: Forest Hills Stadium

On days when there is an event they may add additional trains that will stop at Forest Hills so you wouldn't have to transfer.

I would always recommend taking the train over driving to an event like that.
