Rudy has a lump
ok so I take Rudy to the vet last night for his Kennel cough vaccination (oh thanks everyone for the boarding advice we did find a place that we liked called malibu pet hotel). Well the other day (Monday I think).. I felt a lump on his chest.. so since I was at the vet last night I thought I would just have the doctor check it out.. Well the doctor feels it and says that is feels suspicious and that she thinks we should have it aspirated and then have a biopsy done on the tissue . Now since I noticed the lump it has gotten bigger. I told the doctor (since it was such a long night for Rudy... we had been at the vet from 5:30 to 9:00 because of waiting and then also Rudy has ear problems which had to be delt with, and then the kennel cough vacc up his nose) if we could give it a week and come back for the test. She did say that she wasn't so worried that it was cancer because he is an 11 month old boy... She thinks he might have cysts.
My poor Rudy.. I am so worried about him.. between his chronic ear problems and now this.. I am beside myself

Re: Rudy has a lump
What kind of dog is Rudy? Certain dogs are more susceptible to fat lumps than others - my sister's Golden has a ton of them.
My Black Lab has one or 2 now that he is older (10) but the Dr. wasn't concerned, said they were fat deposits just by feeling them....
Good luck!!

Re: Rudy has a lump
our golden has had two of them, one was aspirated and non-cancerous, the other one burst when the vet touched it, also benign.
i also get so upset when i feel one- i'm so worried about her! but, it is a dog thing- happens all the and is usually harmless.
our vet said that whatever you do, do not try to pop it like a pimple or put any pressure on it. if it bursts, it might do so under the skin and the liquid could spread under the skin and cause an infection.
try not to worry! i know how much we love our doggies!
