acupuncture

for anyone that has gone for acupuncture-would you mind sharing the cost? i'm curious if it is an extra expense i could afford. plus, how often you went.

tia!!

ok i just read some of the older posts about acupuncture and now i'm wondering what makes some more specialized than others in infertility? what i mean is, i thought i understood the way acupuncture to work is that it is a whole body thing, moving energy throughout, not really treating a specific symptom. so does it matter if one doesn't call him/herself a specialist in infertility?

thanks again!!

Re: acupuncture

It definitely makes a difference -- just like your RE is specialized in fertility, so should your acupuncturist be. There are so many ailments treated by acupuncture and so many ways to affect the qi, that you want someone who specializes in fertility.

There is a big difference.

Re: acupuncture

Hey Lisa,

I went to Dr. Wu when I did my IVF cycle. I firmly beleive that it was the accupunture that helped stick the embyro!

The visit on my day of transfer was 250.00. It was the best 250 I have ever spent!

Re: acupuncture

I think it definitely makes a difference to go to an acupuncturist specialized in infertility.

I was going to an acupuncturist for 9 months who was not specialized. He did help me feel better, more energized, etc. But, I often felt that he was lacking the knowledge. Being very into Easter medicine, he was also not pro-IVF; but that's another story. My husband also went to him and, even though my husband has sperm issues, I don't think those were addressed as they should have been.

I will probably go through my second IVF cycle in October and have switched to Dr. Wu. I really feel that he understands the process and knows what to do. He seems to have a lot of infertility patients (his name is mentioned on a few discussion boards). He even seems to know a lot of the REs. He is treating both my husband and me. So far, I am very happy with him. We see him once a week. I think he prefers that we would see him twice a week but we can't really afford that.

I don't think I wasted my time with the other doctor but I should have switched to Dr. Wu months ago.

Re: acupuncture

I was seeing a non IF acu at $75 a pop, but when I started IVF I switched - I see Dr Wu too $150 initial fee and $90 per visit after that
