Went to shelter Today..

to get my Mom a kitten, me her and DH went and we fell in LOVE with a little orange one...so sweet, purring, what a doll..EXCEPT...we are looking at him and see a TON, I mean a LOT, entire body's worth of flea eggs
No live fleas, but then we look more closely at his ears, black! He had mites as well, so My mom couldnt take a chance bringing him home..she has an adult cat now.

I felt so bad, but they give you a 24hr flea controller and the kitty a bath, but having him in the house with the adult cat even till the vet on say Monday and Tuesday is just too much.

We may go back next week when the vets open so we can take him right there...but it just annoyed me that the shelter didnt take better care of the kittens. There were not that many at all, so they werent over run with animals...

Letting them sit there with fleas and mites just annoyed me....

Oh how awful.....what a shame, the poor kitty!! Donna I hope you have better luck when you go back - the shelter really should give the pet to you in healthy and clean condition. Those poor kitties!!

i know of a 4 year old male spayed cat in need of a home...he is a long hair orange tabby named Toby He is very sweet & gentle....his owner had to go into a nursing home....let me know if you are interested. He is in need of a home

Well the issue is my Mom has a cat, fully grown she got from Petco, one of those poor things sitting in the cages. Well shes a little psychotic or has multiple personalities. She gets very strange and nippy. SOOOO...the vet said if my mom wanted another Cat a kitten was the best way to go because the Adult cat would feel less threatened, and even a kitten needs to be introduced slowly..so unfortunalty she cannot consider an adult cat.
