This may be TMI but Im desperate!!!

These prenatal vitamins have me backed up worse than Midtown Manhattan traffic!!! It's to the point of nausea and abdominal cramps. Any suggestions as to what I can do to release the floodgates???

You can use an enema for immediate relief. You may also want to ask for prenatal with a stool softener included or you can use Colace which is available at any drug store. Feel better.

I had this too. My Dr. said no enema, it could cause early labor, so ask your doc first.

I took colace.

It is the Iron in the vitamin. Swith to a non-iron vitamin and eat natural iron foods instead. that will really help.
prune juice will help you.

Yes change prenatals. There are so many out there - you need to find one that is right for you. Talk to your OB about it. Feel better!!!

It took my body about a week or so to adjust to the prenatal. After about a week I regulated. If you are that uncomfortable you should just switch!!!

Good luck and feel betterChat Icon

This happened to me. I changed my prenatals and also took them at night, right before bed, instead of the morning. It helped a lot! Good luck!

Ask your Dr. to change your prescription. There was one they gave me to try that had a softener in it. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it.

Been there, done that. Chat Icon I was in so much pain in the begining. My body did regulate, but I still don't "go" as often as I should and woulld like. (I go once or twice a WEEK) Try to encorperate plenty of fruits and veggies in your diet and take colace. I hope you feel better, I know how horrible it can be. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know the feeling and boy is it annoying and painful. I started incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet and added the ole Bran cereal and prune juice. Prune juice did the trick on those bad days.

I had to do the enema BUT I also have to say that was way back in like week 16 and I am finding it odd that later in my pregnancy I now have anemia. Honestly, I think the enema depletes some vitamins and I think for me that was the case (dr didnt say that though). I had to do them about 4xs. My advice is that the iron is what constipates you so take something gentle like flintstones instead of prenatal. BUT of course ask your dr first!

I did the enema (or shall I say, Hubby did itChat Icon ) but my God, I was crying in pain from pushing that tree trunk out of my butt for over an hour with no relief. I still had issues after that one time and I tried (bad me) to use suppositories but they didn't work well. I gave up on the prenats w/iron and switched to GNC's prenats w/o iron and life was goodChat Icon

i was having this problem along withhypermesis (severe morning sickness) and I ate aplum this morning and YEAH!!!!!!Chat Icon much betterChat Icon I haven't been able to keep anything down or drink so that is the problem for me, dehydration. If you can drink and eat, try eating fruits and drinks juices/water.

About the enema's: Are they safe? I came so close to doing one the other day? I can't seem to get a clear answer from anyone.
