Advice Please
Hello ladies I am new to the site (a friend recomended it). I was just diagnosed with mild PCOS and i am 27. The doctors recommend TTC sooner then later. Me and my husband are emotionally ready for a baby, but financially i am not so sure. My feelings are do we wait till next year when we may be more financially secure but risk having more problems and then having to pay for IVF or IUI which is just as expensive as having a baby and paying for daycare, diapers, etc. and not guarenteed either or do we start now, and then if we have a baby- great, and just struggle till we get things under control financially. Was anyone else in this boat when they found out they have fertility issues? i think i want a baby and dont want to take the chance of greater issues down the road. and i feel like the finanancial issues cancel each other out, its either save now for a baby or if the baby doesnt happen all that monet goes toward Fertility treatments. This is so hard!!

Re: Advice Please
I would venture to say most if the girls on this side of the board would say dont wait. You never know how long it will take and no matter how much you try its never the perfect time financially.
Good luck to you

Re: Advice Please
I wouldnt wait.
We are not in any means a good finacial boat ourselves. We make ends meet, we can afford new things on occassion, we dont suffer....but we dont have a huge savings, if any.
We know we will be able to provide childcare, clothing, and toys etc to a child and thats what we focus on now.
A baby tends to need MUCH less then a child in school as well and so we plan to make sure we make and save more money as the years go on.
NO ONE unless then have millions has the best finacial situation for a child, and I knew if we waited, we would wait forever.
I know both DH and I were raised by single moms who had less then we do and we both actually feel we are who we are and are better people for what we may have struggled for. We dont shame our parents.
So...we didnt wait and we feel no shame or worry about our decision not to.

Re: Advice Please
I would just caution that trying now does not mean you will not have to have IVF or IUI in the future- there is no way to know. If you and your husband cannot truly afford quality daycare or to pay for formula/diapers than I would consider everything before TTC. Of course, nothing is more blessed than a baby but you do need to be able to care for the baby after he/she is born.

Re: Advice Please
I don't know about you but -- DH and I figure we will be svaing $$ by having a baby. We travel - a LOT. We eat out 3 - 6 times per week - and at nice restaurants too. We shop when we are bored. So taking our spending habits into consideration and how they will change when I cannot drink, or we are staying home more often, we see that life will be much cheaper.....at least in the beginning...
