Is it true that

if you get pregnant within the first two months of being off the pill, you are more likely to miscarry? My doctor did not tell me this, but my friend's doctor told her.

That is a new one .. I have NEVER heard that, and honestly I think its one of those things "some" doctors say that have NO real basis in truth..

I agree with Felicia. I wasn't told that at all. I was actually told it was possible that I wouldn't ovulate right away.

I am so glad to hear that. My friend's doctor told her to wait a few months before trying, because in the first few months of coming off the pill, you have a bigger chance of miscarriage, and a bigger chance of multiple births.

I happen to think that generally speaking, doctors often will recommend that a woman not TTC for the three months coming off the pill just because it often takes that much time for your body to "readjust" and go back to ovulation normally

I have known of so many women who have conceived shortly thereafter or even while ON the pill and their pregnancies/babies turned out wonderfully... so I tend to think that this information is not 100% correct

No way! My friend got PG within the first month of being off the pill and had no problems whatsoever. And another friend forgot to take her pill for two days and got pg...finished the month and also no complications.
Maybe the Dr. said that to try to discourage her from trying right away.

I think it really depends on what type of BCP you are taking and what doctor you are seeing. I was told I could try right away, day I stopped taking them because the hormone levels are so low it shouldn't cause any problems. As far as the multiple births, from what I remember, it is a greater chance because your body hasn't ovulated, that it may release more then one egg.

I talked to my Dr. about that "theory" - it's BS - they tell you to wait so that your cycle will even out so the doctors can better "date" your pregnancy (it can be difficult to accurately date your pregnancy if your cycles are all whacky, which tends to happen right after you get off the pill). In fact, studies show that women are most fertile during the couple of months right after the pill. I have a good friend who conceived exactly one week after going off the pill, and she has a beautiful, healthy 7-month year old now!

I got PG my 2nd month off the pill and i am 9 months PG. My 2 friends got PG right after getting off the pill as well. Your hormone levels are higher after getting off the pill so sometimes your chance of getting PG are higher.

Both my nephews were conveived 1 week after my sister going off the pill. They are now 6 and 2 1/2 years old

I became PG 2 days after being off the pill. I was having a wonderful pregnancy until the amnio
