well I had my consult last night
and we reviewed all of the test results and I had another sonogram - Here are the results -
- All the genetic tests were fine, no problems there
- I have a blocked tube and the RE wants me to have a tubal cannulation
- Next cycle we are going to do an IUI Clomid (2 pills for 5 days), then if necessary move on to 3 pills for the next one then if necessary move to injectables (so I will be checking out the Clomid thread after I type this)
- DH's sperm is fine
- she isn't too worried about my borderline high FSH (14), just mentioned it was a high number for someone my age.
- She was happy with my progesterone (14)
funny how the same number is good for one thing and bad for another
- All in all I feel ok with everything, a bit nervous about the cannulation but it's worth it to up our chances of a successful cycle.
- I will have to switch to a RE closer to work and home now.

Wow Donna, you have the identical situation I have. Except my FSH levels are OK and I have cervical stenosis.
But, you know, its not a bad report at all!! Do you only have one blocked tube? Why does the dr want to do the surgery on it? Did he/she say?
I only ask becuase my RE said that I have 1 blocked tube but she doesnt want to do anything like surgery right now because she thinks it might be unnecessary since I only need 1 tube to get PG.
Just wondering what your drs take is on things?
But congrats, that really is a great jumping off point, and the issues can be easily fixed!

Well according to her she just wants to improve my chances with the IUI. What if it's the blocked side that releases the egg that month, etc?
She said the cannulization is similar to the HSG, except it forces the tube open and I would be under light sedation.
I'm actually in the process of finding another RE so I would like to see what that RE says about it.
You did this first IUI with no drugs right? Is your 2WW almost up? I have my fingers crossed that this is it for you :)

It sounds like things look good for you. Who are you seeing now? At least they sound like they are thorough, which is the most important thing.

Last night was still with Dr. Saketos at RS of NY, but we realized I need to switch because of geography

Hummm thats surprising to me only because my RE said that as long as 1 tube is working the egg will go over to that one and come down.
let me know what the next RE says!

It sounds like overall, the consult went well Donna! And you are definitely on the right track, things seem "fixable" and I am really positive on your behalf!
I am sorry you have to switch doctors, though (but I know its important to have the RE closeby when going for all these tests, etc)
Good Luck!! I am hoping that once your tube is unblocked you will be well on your way to conceiving!
