Advice please-m/c's

It's been over a week since my m/c and I should be receiving my blood work results tomorrow(last friday my HCG level was 56). I m/c'd at 5weeks, 5 days naturally.

For those who have had m/c in the past(I am soo sorry), how did you get through the 2 month wait?

I want to start trying, maybe it's the overachiever in me, but I feel like a failure. Those 2 months are going to seem like an eternity. Trying again is all that I can seem to think about and the thought of using protection just irks me, but then again I don't want to have another m/c cause I didn't give my body a chance.

Mentally, I need to do something, but I don't know..Help!

Re: Advice please-m/c's

I had a D&C so I never had to have additional blood work. My dr recommended waiting 1 month before TTC again - DH and I wanted to wait 2 cycles, just to give my body time to heal, physically AND mentally. You're not a failure by any means...I am a firm believer in "whatever is meant to be will be" - it'll be hard waiting to try again, but when it's right - it'll happenChat Icon

Re: Advice please-m/c's

I was just thinking of you!!! How to get through the waiting period...geez. I'm not sure how I did it! I m/c Dec 21, right before Christmas which was a real downer for me. I also bled/spotted for 6 weeks!! I did not get a real AF till around Jan 31. So for that one month, it was really dealing with the aggravation of the spotting. At first I wanted to start TTC right away, but honestly, as time went by, the emotional aspect hit me. It took a good 2-3 weeks after the M/C for me to START mourning (and my PG didn't even develop! it was just a sac).

My doctor recommended 3 months to mourn, physically, you can start right away (bxgell2 got PG again right away without even getting her AF again I think!!)

My advice to you is mourn, grieve, cry, get over the physical effects right now. Then deal with the emotions of the loss with your dH and family. Then start to talk about what you might want to do and by then your 2 months is up!

I am SO sorry for your loss and if you need any help or advice feel free to FM me

Thank you for thinking of me:) I HAVE GOOD NEWS!! My blood test came back normal, I don't haveto go for any more. I have no pregnancy hormone left!! That was quick! Does that mean I am totally physically back to normal?

That is good news! It sounds like exactly what I went through - within a few days my hormone levels were back to 0.... SO, if you plan on waiting a couple of months, BE CAREFUL because at this point, you are VERY fertile. You're at exactly the point where I conceived again without even trying! Chat Icon

Re: Advice please-m/c's

you are "hormonally" back to normal, yes. Once you hit zero, your body should get AF soon (I think) It took me 6 weeks (yes 6 weeks) for my levels to bottom out (I had bloodwork like 3 or 4 times!!!) I think a full blown AF came a few days to a week later (if I remember correctly)

I couldn't wait for her too! Glad to see your spirits are up Michele! Keep up the positive outlook, but don't skip the grieving process-it's quite important in my opinion. I cried alot over a period of several weeks.

Shana-I try to keep positive, but those hard days come creeping. A friend of mine just had a baby the day after my m/c. I am soo happy her baby girl is here, but a part of me just died when I spoke with her on Friday and heard those sweet cries in background. Had myself a good cry...I sometimes push things away in mind, then they come back hard. I have you girls to keep me grounded :) I am worried too, sometimes I think i am skipping over the steps of grieving and not truly giving myself sometime to cry over my little peanut.

It's hard... really hard. I remember one week after my miscarriage one of my good friends gave birth and specifically asked that I be there... I waited in the delivery room 5 hours and held her baby afterwards, and though I was sooooooooo ecstatic for her, when I came home, I cried for probably 5 straight hours. Make sure you greive - this is what this time is for - I spent hours crying and talking to DH, my parents and friends... some days I felt fine, others I would have to close my door at work because I would start crying... just remember, you're not alone in this, and you have a wonderful DH, family and friends to lean on...
