Wine during pregnancy?

I am going over to a friend's house tonight with my husband for dinner. We're bringing dessert and the wine.

I haven't had any alcohol during my pregnancy, I'm 29 weeks right now. But I'm at the point where a glass of wine sounds REALLY good!

Did any of you do it? Do you think it would be okay?

I never did but I think I may have told you - my high risk dr ordered me to go to dinner and have a glass of wine when I was stressed out over my GD! hehe.

I don't think a small glass is bad. It isn't like you are drinking every night or getting drunk. I know quite a few people who had a glass of wine here and there throughout their pregnancies.

My high risk ob had me laughing. He is a high risk ob and his wife is a ob and they use to go out to dinner when she was preggo and everyone would give him dirty looks like they were doing something wrong if she had a small glass of wine. I think they have a handle on babies!

I had 1/2 a glass recently.
My doctor said it was ok to have a glass every once in a while.

ETA - I'm 21 weeks.

My dr. said the same thing, a glass every once in a while is OK. My friend has wine spritzers so she can have a few of those.

My thought is, well, I'm sure it's fine, but what is 1/2 glass of wine going to do for me anyway? It's not worth it in my eyes, but I'm sure your baby will be fine.

I've also heard that it was okay. I never took advantage of it though.

My doctor said it was fine to have a couple of glasses of wine during the course of the pregnancy unless I was going to stress out about it. Like someone else had said, what's one glass going to do for me? I want 1/2 the bottle!! Having said that I have had about 3 glasses of wine in total now at almost 35 weeks.

Have a glass and relax...it's perfectly fine. Just don't go and drink a glass a day!!

Re: Wine during pregnancy?

I ended up having about an inch of wine in the bottom of the glass, not much, probably like 1-2 ounces. I didn't want to have more then that! But man it was good! I really love wine, so it wasn't to get drunk, just to have some!

Nope. Not a drop of alcohol. I am sure it wouldn't do anything but drinking pregnant or not was never that high on my list so for me it's easy to just not have any.

Re: Wine during pregnancy?

My doc never recommend it, but they also say that there has been no proof that a little will be harmful, so they say use discretion. I just always figreued if something was wring with the baby I would blame it on that 1 glass of wine I had. I cannot wait to have a few beers, only a few more weeks. Vacationa nd the4 holidays were hard to get through while everyone was boozing it up, but I;m too nervous to risk the outcomes.

I can tell you one thing, I do a lot of "whining" during my pregnancies!!!Chat Icon

I have also heard that wine in moderation is fine. I know lots of women who drank once in a wile and everything was fine with the babies. As for my self I'm only 14½ weeks so I may wait a while before I indulgeChat Icon
