Kicking the coffee habit?

I'm sure this has probably been asked before but I'm wondering if any of you ladies kicked a coffee habit while you were TTC or if you waited until you got a BFP. I'm trying to figure out what to do.

Thanks!

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

I kicked the coffee habit! I started out by drinking a smaller cup (about 1/2 the size) of my normal morning cup- I drank that for probably like 2 weeks, and then switched to decaf in the same smaller size cup....and then went a few days without coffee (not on purpose, just the way it was)- and then when I had the oppurtunity to drink coffee instead, I just decided to try green tea, which has so much less caffeine in it. So far, it has been about 2 weeks without coffee and I am doing ok!

I don't drink coffee, but I do drink soda and I have cut it out totaly. But once in a while I'll have it, if i really want it. I'm glad I did it now because I think it would be hard to quite cold-turkey.

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

i did it although I never thought i would be able to. I just did it cold turkey (i also stopped drinking diet soda-which i as also addicted too). and i did suffer the headaches, nausua, etc. but its been like two weeks and i'm fine now. I also drink green tea when i feel like it and decaf sometimes too. I heard it can cause irregular cycles and b/c i am irregular i thought maybe it would help to stop the coffee altogether. if my doctors says its fine when i get preggos maybe i'll go back to one cup a day

Thanks ladies! I think I'm going to try switching to a smaller cup of coffee for a week or so and then change to green tea. I love green tea! Chat Icon

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

Just watch the labels - you don't want any unusual herbs mixed in and some teas have more caffiene than coffee does!

Good point. Do they make decaf green tea? I don't like decaf coffee but need something hot to drink in the AM.

I just did a search on Stop & Shop. Bigelow & Celestial Seasonings both make decaf green tea.

Yes they do make Decaf Green Tea. When I drink decaf, I have been drinking the one from Bigelow. It is yummy.

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

I'm a one cup a day only type person and usually not on the weekends unless we go out to dinner, then I'll have a cup after dinner. I don't intend on stopping, since I only drink that one cup a day. And I do not drink soda of any kind.

I drink Decaf Green Tea made by Salada. I actually drink the one with red antioxidants. It is sooooo good. Here is their website. I buy it at King Kullen.

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

I did not stop drinking coffee when I got my BFP (I am actually saying this with a Starbucks in front of me). I did decrease my amount. I went from about 8 cups a day to 4. I also drink 1/2 caf at home, so that helps a little too. I have read in several books that a certain amount of caffine is OK. I think it was 4 servings a day, but I am not positive of that number.

Good luck! Chat Icon

Re: Kicking the coffee habit?

I just bought myself a 99.7% caffiene free instant cappuciono mix. So far, so good. It's hot in the morning and now I don't have to stop on the way to work Chat Icon .
