When is enough trying enough? Sorry to sound so ignorant on this stuff...
We are kind of just seeing what happens, and I am not disappointed when AF arrives, but I would like to get a BFP, like the rest of us. Since we have not been really trying per see, how long is enough when u r not timing it? Or do u have to time BD'ing before saying maybe there is a problem and u need to get help from a RE? I think our Mom's put it in our heads it can haapen no matter what-... so weird when u are trying to not prevent a BFP.... TIA!

For me we tsarted trying when I was 31. I had two m/c and saw an RE. I have been dignosed with a clotting disorder have been given medication and will be trying for the first time this month after AF leaves. For me i wanted to make sure that my fertility would not be affected by age if there were other issues going on. So bottom line I guess it depends oin your age. How long have you been trying etc.

I am 32 and my dr told me to just see what happens for a year, i mean i know approximately when i ovulate from fertility friend, but I don't temp or anything

I am 36 and my doc told us 6 months with BDing every other day at day 10 and no other interventions or methods. Thats what we chose to follow. Doc said if we were younger, then he would suggested to hold out longer than 6 months. We are working on month 4 this weekend!

I am not sure, I think that is a personal decision.
FOr me, after trying for 6 months hardcore (pg with m/c during that stretch) and a year before that 1/2 a$$ due to poor scheduling and being away for work, I have decided it's time, and enough is enough.
We have spoken with someone wo teaches fertilty awareness and have an appt with a RE next week to start diagnostics.
Most dr's tell you to try for a year ( age is a factor that can make that time limit vary- some say 6 months depending on age)
Go with your gut, speak with your obgyn and friends as well as ladies here.

I know it's not for everyone- but have you tried charting? If that's too much stress for you- what about OPKs? Those will really help you hone into your most fertile period.

Charting is very easy once you know what you're doing. Buy a basal body temp thermometer. CVS Eckerd, etc. Buy the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. The therm should have instructions with it or you can use fertilityfriend.com or other websites to keep track of temps. It's way too long to explain here-but once you read about it you'll understand

Try buying this book
Taking Charge of your Fertility (TCOYF)
This is a GREAT Book! I learned so much about my body from this book. This book lead me to believe that I suffered from hypothyroidism which I later found out I did. Til this day, I always go back to the book for reference.

I think its definitely a personal choice.
For me, I don't think I'll ever 'just see what happens' because I am very paranoid. I am afraid that I may have problems to concieve, and if I take the approach of just seeing what happens and don't get PG than I will start to seriously wonder if there are problems - and than just drive myself insane!
So, we are 'careful' until we are ready, and than we will officially try.
For us, that will be early next year

I'm not sure I understand your question...you're not really "trying" but you're wondering about your ability to get PG?
Technically, doctors say to "try" for 12 months...if you don't get PG, then see a specialist.
Now, everyone is different and I know that if I was doing everything right and not getting preggo, I would see someone by month 6...I'm impatient.
Make sure you're trying "right" though...I wasn't. Buy the book that was recommended (Taking Charge of Your Fertility) and learn about your body. You can also sign up for free tutorials on charting, etc. at www.fertilityfriend.com. I also bumped my thread about how to BD "right".

Most RE's wont even see you if your not timing it, so thats first. And they feel 6 months of timing it over age 35 is time to go and under age 35 , one year. I would follow those guidelines if it were me.

we just tried without much though for a while..i would say about 6 months
after that i read the book TCOYF a little
Then tried OPKS
and then really READ TCOYF..
