I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but is a slow cooker the same as a crockpot?

I have a great family meat sauce recipe but not for a crockpot. I guess you could start it on the stove and then during the day instead of simmering it on the stove you could have it in the crockpot....
Hmmm...let me know if you want it.

I make my sauce in the slow cooker/crockpot all the time.
First, brown garlic and sausages (I use a combo of sweet and mild) /meat in skillet/frying pan. You can also just throw them into the slow cooker without browning....just have to make sure the sausage is cooked all the way. I'd still brown the meat though.
MIL recipe for sauce: 2 large cans of crushed tomatoes (last time I used Tuturosso) 2 small cans tomato sauce (last time I used Contadina w/ Italian seasoning or basil/garlic combo) 2 small cans tomato paste (again, Contadina w/ seasoning) a dash of sugar to cut acidity sprinkle enough basil and oregano to cover the top and stir in.
I cook it on low about 3 hrs.....sometimes less if no meat is involved. Sometimes I make meatballs and freeze them and plop them in the sauce as I'm reheating on the stove (after I freeze the main batch)
