How do I teach my DD...

How to come down the stairs, she is a master at going up but she turns around and just steps into thin air (my arms of course) when she wants to come down.
I have to block her from going up the stairs and she HATESSSSSSSSS the idea of when I go up and she cant come to

Anyone have any ideas or advice?

My sister has my neice (16 months old) turn on her belly and climb down. When she wants to go down the stairs they just show her how to do it.

Block the stairs half way up so she can practice on the bottom half & not tumble the full stair case.

Next, when she's ready to try going down or jumps in your arms, put her back on the stairs and show her how you want her to go down. Every time she jumps into your arms to go down, put her back on the stairs. We also used to repeat...slow, slow, slow when they went down. One it reminded them to take their time going down the stairs, two it was a warning to me that she was going down the stairs so I would come & spot her.

Most kids start doing it on their tushes. Later they'll turn around.
