She is also the sister of author/humorist David Sedaris. If you've never read any of his books they are hilarious. DW and I used to read them on the train and people must've thought we were nuts we would laugh so hard tears would stream down our faces.
Start with "Me Talk Pretty One Day"...if you think you're family is messed up you'll feel much better after this book.
Also, Amy Sedaris was on "My Name is Earl" last week as a cat lady.

DH and I just saw David Sedaris at the Kimmel center in Philadelphia... if you listen to NPR, he's on there almost everyday, and OMG, he's freakin' HYSTERICAL. I've never heard his sister, though I've heard she doesn't measure up to his humor...
