So I chickened out leaving the crock pot on

today while I went to work...I just envionsed my building burning down while I was oblivous at work...so even though I had everything ready to go I didn't put it on...

My question is if the recipe says 6 to 8 hours on low and I get home by 4 do you think 2 to 3 hours on high would be the same...its only 2 chicken breasts with a lemon garlic sauce. If not, I'm just going to bake it in the oven....Chat Icon Chat Icon

aww!! don't be chicken!! thats what crock post are made for Chat Icon i think that they use such a low heat when they're on for so long, that its ok Chat Icon
and i always put mine on a glass cutting board too just to be extra safe...
i think i would probably cook your chicken in the oven instead... not sure how the crock pot would work at high heat... good luck!! Chat Icon

If a recipe calls for 6-8 hours on low, you can cut it down to 3-4 hours on high.

I don't leave mine on if I am out the entire day....I am a worry wart!

I don't blame you. I used to work with someone who was the fire chief of a department out in Suffolk and he said that most of the fires they respond to were started by crock pots. I never use mine if I'm not going to be home.

I plan on using mine on the weekends when I'm home and freezing some meals for the week.
