My poor puppy!!!
The stupid landscapers left the gate open...the side that is rarely used. My golden retriever was outside and got loose. We live on a very busy street, so when I looked outside for him and saw he wasn't there and that gate was wide open I freaked!!!   I went around front in just my socks and there he was on our front stoop. What a good puppy! He was so scared that when he saw me he just crept slowly towards me like he thought he did something wrong.  I am so grateful that he didn't become disoriented and took a wrong turn. I was pi$$ed at the stupid landscapers. I know it's an honest mistake, but if you go through the gate, close it behind you!!!

Glad he is ok! We used to have the same problem with my dog. People would come in the gate and leave it open. If it was closed when you got here - close it when you leave!

This was a real concern of mine too. I would be devistated if that happened to me. What I did is get a spring latch from Home Depot and installed it on the gate. It attaches with just a few screws. So when you open the gate and snaps right back into place and locks. I'm out in AZ and you need to have those when you have a pool. Just a suggestion. I feel better about it knowing that when the exterminator comes when i'm not home that the gate isn't being left open after he leaves. I'm so happy to hear your puppy was safe.
